Do you guys use the stock potenza tires in winter, or do you use winter tires, with the black rim?
if so, please tell of performance, or alternative solution, i'd hate to slide or be rearended by a crappy car against my MSP

I have a P5, but I use 15" steelies on Nokian Hakka Q's for winter - grip is excellent, traction is awesome, and they work equally well in snow (dry and wet), ice and dry pavement (which not all winter tires do; in fact, some do very poorly on dry pavement). I'd highly recommend them, it's worth the extra change to have a dedicated set and not have to worry - either with performance, safety or wrecking your stock rims/tires.

Im looking to buy winter tires for my MSP, since the potenza tires, reaaally suck on adverse weather, problem is that im not really in a financial situation to blow off alot of money, and i was hoping that you guys could give me the best bang for my buck, without sacrificing the precious safety of my msp. Im sure you guys would feel the same way if an inferior civic crashed into you. haha
Yes, I am looking for tires and rims, either black drums or actual rims

Blizzaks. Used them all winter and never got stuck. It's fun to pass people that are trying to push another car up the street.
It will probably be cheapest for you to buy some old P5 rims off someone or get steelies.

No one puts chains on their tires anymore, do that.

Its not recommended putting on chains, as they can eventually fall of... that... or damage your rims

Steelies with Dunlop Wintersport tires. They cost about 1/2 the price of blizzaks and I have had no problems with them so far.
