Just came back from the dealer, and I'm now a proud owner of a Mazda5! It's a Phantom Blue Touring, manual transmission, and no nav for me. :) Man it's a lot of fun to drive.

Right at MSRP, which is a bit under 20. (Better than the additional markup they wanted for a 'new model' and I was very happy to get the exact combination of features I wanted.) Haven't had time to take pics yet, but probably will soon. Maybe perfecto will let me send pics to him to put on his Mazda5 photo site? :) (I'm a little lazy in setting up web galleries. Heh.)
Plans are fairly minimal for the moment. The main thing I wanted was a way to get iPod support. I'm using a FM modulator to get sounds from my iPod to the stereo, which is working ok for the moment (surprisingly so, the radio spectrum here is pretty crowded and its difficult to find a clear frequency to get), but eventually I'd like to get a more dedicated input. I'll followup to that on the stereo thread I started once I come up with a serious plan.

Welcome to the forum man. I hope you enjoy your new ride. I might have to go see if the local dealer has any 5's and check one out in person.

Any other new owners want to reveal themselves?
Anyone else getting ready to buy soon?

Wow...sweet...I'm a big fan of the Mazda5...I setup this forum a while ago...finally someone HAS ONE! Congrats Kaian (thumb)
Actually I've noticed how enthusiastic and interested you've been about the Mazda5...Kaian, would you be interested in being a Moderator for this forum? I'm not only looking for someone to keep the forum on track (along with Wongpres) but also contribute to making this a great place for current and future Mazda5 owners!
PM ME (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/private.php?do=newpm&userid=18) if you wish to apply! :D

So far it's been a blast. Just riding into work today got me a few stares, and dropping the kids off at daycare was an event as the boys couldn't wait to tell their friends. When my oldest said "My dad got a rocket rollercoaster car!" it made me laugh. They call the moonroof the "sky window" which l also think is funny.
When I get around to taking pics, could I send them to you to put up on your flickr site?

it had a pretty good review in Top Gear Magazine. they tested the new MX-5 and Mazda 5, and both scored 16/20 and 14/20 respectively.
definitely pretty good scores for a group of highly anal road testers, esp. considering they bashed the shit outta pretty much everything else.

Hey Everyone,
I just joined the forum and am also a new owner of a M5. Unfortunatly they are hard to get here (Ontario, Canada) and need to wait until late August/Early Sept. Perfecto, I must say as a fellow Canuck I'm jealous you have yours already!!
We had a really hard time with the color choice not being able to see them in person. So we called around the dealerships in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and went to see each color in person. Our top 3 color picks ended up being:
1) Carbon Grey (Wife's Pick)
2) Platinum Silver (My Pick)
3) Indigo Blue
Originally we wanted a true silver like the sunlight silver in other mazda's as we have a VW Golf in Reflex Silver. So the salesman told us that Stellar silver is the same. When we saw it I had a sudden urge for a mint!! Not a bad color (Very interesting in fact) but not for us.
So here is our order that will be coming in the future. A Carbon Grey GT with air and Auto. I'll keep you posted....
Pic to follow once I find a place to host my pics.

Hey thanks for the advice!!
Thank you everyone for the welcome to the forum!! Well here is the picture of what we're getting sometime in the future. It's frustrating that they have this brand new one on the lot but can't be ours yet. Guess we need to wait until the end of August.

The windows gotta be tinted IMO.
Who sells a mini-van that doesn't come with rear tinted windows? Granted the Mazda5 isn't 100% mini-van but it should still have factory tinted windows.
perfecto

It's not classified as a Mini-van, which is why it cannot have factory-tinted windows.

It needs tinted windows, an Eibach drop and some nice rims with the 5 speed and it would be sweet.
The colors are just awesome.
Showcase Mazda in Phoenix AZ has several of them on the lot just ready to go home with new owners.

Interesting about the tinted windows. It is confusing to say the least. If the Mazda 5 lacks the privacy glass (or whatever you want to call it) simply because of the way they chose to classify the "5", that is an oversight on Mazda's part. I realize minivans and SUV's have rear tint, but I also see a number of other vehicles which also appear to have standard or available factory tint; the Scion xb, Dodge Magnum Wagon, PT Cruiser to name a few. Regardless of how their manufacturers chose to classify them, these vehicles are not true vans or trucks, yet they have the tint..

I just counted the windows and there would be 11 windows to tint. That isn't going to be cheap. 5 down each side and the back one.
