I MIGHT BE A LIL BEHIND BUT I JUST PICKED UP A MP3 LIKE LAST WEEK. I CONTACTED MAZDA TO FIND OUT WHAT THE DIFFRENCE WAS TO THE 2.0M AND OUR ENGINE I KNOW WE STILL HAVE A 2.0 BUT I HEARD THAT THE 2.0 INTAKE WAS DIFFRENT TO THE MP3 INTAKE. WELL IT IS ALL THE SAME STUFF. IF ANY ONE WAS WONDERING LIKE ME..SO EVERYTHING MADE FOR THE REGULAR PROTEGE 2.0 WILL FIT ON OUR CARS. SO BASICALLY THE INJEN 2.0 COLL AIR INTAKE WILL FIT (WHICH I HAVE JUST ORDERED PRIOR TO THIS MESSAGE)

ALSO HAS ANY ONE INSTALLED A INTAKE ON THE CAR YET?? IF SO DOES IT SOUND TO RICEY AND NASTY OR DOES IT GIVE IT A MORE THROATY SOUND???...SOMEONE GET BACK AT ME...

i have an aem short ram intake and it sounds amazing. also it dives deep down into the engine compartment instead of sitting at the top like the cheap ractive ones, it doesnt go down to the wheel well like the injen ones tho, but its really nice

please turn off the caps lock. It reads LIKE YOU ARE SCREAMING!

And I believe that it is mostly the ECU and the intake manifold that are different, maybe the exhaust manifold. Not for sure.

He's had like 3 years to dwell on why he posted in all CAPS... I'm sure he doesn't post like that any more :)

looks like exaclty 7/16 to me. from tip of arrow to tip of arrow.

I was talking about the actual space between the keys. It is hard to tell because of the angle the picture was taken, but I think it is off by maybe a 1/32" - so 13/32", not 11/32"... my bad.

Anyways, I was just kidding around... :) Now on top of being resurrected from the past, this thread is also way off topic! Oh well...

But the actual gap between the keys is only 1/16" :D

Nice... busting out the caliper :). I should grab my digital one and do the same thing ;) LOL.

Maybe if we go OT enough we can get this sent to the dumpster and it'll be one less useless thread around after 3 months :)

yeah, our digital ones are back at work... and I could grab a little tiny I.D. micrometer too

as far as I know, the MP3 has rotary pistons thats where the extra power comes from.

I've inspected the pistons and rods side by side and there is NO visible difference in any way between any of them. The MP3 gets it's extra power from psychotic timing advance (read about 62 degrees).

If the pistons were diferent, for the MP3, then mazda would have probably beefed up the ones on the MSP, But alas, same "BUTTER SOFT" rods on all theee cars...

But what if i got some pistons with tops that spin, and then I could rifle my engine block, so they would go straighter and faster. Do you guys think that could work?

best mod i ever did was slotted and crossed drilled rotors in my RX-7

I was like WTF? when you posted that... so I just stated what I know.. they ain't any different! :) LOL. I didn't see the carbon rings... that would have been the red flag...because keep in mind there is a rotary/centrifugal method of forging and casting metal ;)

Damn, this thread popped maybe a week after I joined this site....way to bring it back...

BTW, I agree with Steve. My PDA Dyno shows like 63 degrees advance at most.
