TOKYO — In late 2006, Suzuki will begin selling a sport wagon in the U.S. that's smaller than the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V.

This yet unnamed vehicle will be marketed mostly to young to middle-aged men.

This five-seat sport wagon, featuring all-wheel drive and a 2.0-liter engine, is set to debut at next year's New York auto show. Suzuki hopes to sell about 30,000 units a year in its first full year of production, in 2007, according to Automotive News.

Additionally, Suzuki is planning a production version of the Concept X SUV, which debuted in January at the Detroit auto show. This vehicle, to be manufactured at CAMI Automotive Inc. in Ingersoll, Ontario, will replace the XL-7 when it goes on sale next August. Expect it to be powered by a 3.6-liter V6.

What this means to you: As Suzuki plans to roughly double its North American sales to 200,000 vehicles by 2007, customers can expect some fairly enticing packages to get them into the company's showrooms.
