I bought a Ractive header for a 2.0 l and i stripped the egr pipe fitting horribly bad. (it was one of those started off bad but spun into absolutely jacked up in no time). How or where can I fix it? It probably needs a new fitting welded on it but I cant find i a fitting?

screw the egrpipe in as best as u can and have someone weld it on.. when u need to remove header, remove the egr frm the back of the tube instead of on header..

I had to replace the egr pipe cause I jacked that up really bad as well, I wont replace it again, it wasnt easy when you have humongus hands like mine and dont have enough common sense to screw on an egr pipe properly. ANy other ideas?

get a tap and retap the threads in the header pipe, lossen the header, and tighten the egr up first

I am dead serious when I say there is nothing left to tap. Where are the OBX headers manufactured??

Ok, go easy on me about these pics, I know I am an idiot and in my defense I have a short temper when projects take 3 times as long as they should. (smash)

grind it off,and weld a new one,not hard.if you don't have the tools for it,have a local shop do it,or send it to me with $50+shipping,and I will fix it.

I just cant find the right thread pattern for the fitting anywhere? I dont know where else to lok for one, any ideas on where to find the egr fitting? I can install it on the car and weld it in place, I just cant find the right size fitting, OBX said they dont have any in stock right now.
Ill suggest something outta blue.
Ever thought of going to the junk yard with your own tools and unbolting a stock exhaust manifold from a Protege? That will give you that fitting. You can just cut it off and then weld it onto the header.
yea and how the heck did you get to strip the threads THAT much?!?!?! Just curious

Well I havent found a 2.0 at a pick apart junkyard (and I have been looking) and distmantlers wont separate the manifold fomr the engine. The manifolds that are usually on those have been cut instead of unbolted (to save time on pulling engines). I wont buy a whole new engine for a fitting!!! I dethreaded the egr pipe onto the header and couldnt get it off. It wouldnt have been a problem if it didnt leak, but it did and my girlfriend would have killed me if I welded it all up. The leaking caused a CEL so I had to fix the car. The pipe fought me all the way off (i still have that if you want to see how fucked up that is!). I just got too rushed with it and broke everythinged I touched. I ripped the throttle body gasket but said fuck it and put it back together and had the factory fix it under warranty. Because of that week long tradgedy, I dont rush anything and I get as much info as possible to do the job before I start. OBX said a local muffler shop should have the fitting so I might hit those guys up for the parts.
