I was reading about a jspec masdaspeed engine that has 170 horses that would bolt right up to my girlfriends 2.0 ES auto??? Anyone have anymore info or know where I can get the engine and computer?? I heard the computer is difficult to obtain, can the existing computer be reprogrammed to work well?

thats 170 horse with Japan's gas too..which i think is around 97 octane here(i may bee off on that)
and yes it does need the j-spec computer to make the full 170
which (again may be wrong here) is a diff. wiring harness
i like the msp swap for the money...just have to find one

why not just pop in a higher end turbo kit with an ems, instead of putting the same motor in with a lower output system?

Well, the car needs to pass smog. I just want to do easy stuff to make my girlfreinds car faster. It is easier for me to swap and engine, install an lsd and gears, and swap a computer than to fab or pay a shit load of money for a turbo and have to tune it.

go look at the latest Stripper kit, its a very impressive kit at cost. and at low amounts of bost, like the stock msp build, you dont need engine tuning where you wont be leaning out your a/f at higher rpm, you just need a voltage clamp to fool the oxygen sensor..
the msp setup is nothing more than a normal FS-DE with a few minor differances. so i cant see why one would to to the lengths of swapping the same motor only with a turbo installed, rather than buying a budget turbo kit..

uhm... what high-end turbo kit
that MA kit is $2500 w/o intercooler
HiBoost is $3800 with fmic and Haltech
a stand-alone AEM starts at $1800+ tuning and some people charge extra for the harness...i've seen the complete turbo motor for $3500 w/o tranny
and the quaife lsd ( the best IMHO) is $1700
power ain't cheep anyway you go
