225/40 on a 9" width wheel is okay. People do it all the time. 215 would be pretty insane but it's been done. 235/40 is like baby stretch.

I love the way they look on the car. It gives it a wider looking stance. Not to mention I live in Utah and between the road construction everywhere and our winters they work perfectly.

Well as a matter of fact I am of German decent, but my parents just decided to spell the names of all their offspring oddly. For example:

I think Mazda uk just stole them off a special edition rx8 and fitted them with new mounting plates. They look great but offer a really poor rear view. Used to it now though, and have to be extra careful for bikers. :D

Sumthaiguy, do your BCs have camber plates? I threaded mine as low as they'll go in the front and i'm pretty sure I run a taller tire but have more wheelgap. I'm wondering if my plates add some height to the strut itself.

That's really weird because I could have sworn that mine bottomed out before my lock rings were even touching. I have about 2 threads worth of space between my lock ring and the lock ring for the preload. Maybe I need to pull mine apart again and see what's what. I have had nothing but good experience with my BC's so far and the only reason I considered swapping them out is to get the front a little lower.

ive been playing with my front struts lately and have made some very interesting and helpful discoveries. i was always focused on the height of the spring, rather than both the height of the spring and the shock in combination.. maybe I'm just a dumbshit but I didn't really realize the true significance until the last few weeks.

lol actually im a bigger dumbshit. i realized a week ago that i have been adjusting everything all wrong. im used to the normal coilover that just requires to spin down the 2 perches directly under the spring. but i found and read the correct way to adjust them. i unintentionally screwed with the preload by lowering them all the way with out touching the lowest ring. then still wanting to go lower, i took both of the perches out.

im running the coilovers fairly stiff. in the fronts they are around 18-19. and the rears are like 20-21. its something like that. i havent touched them in a while so i dont remember the exact number. and as a result, i dont rub. the spring rates on the bc springs are pretty weak. ive talked to bc a while ago and they said not to go more than 2kg above the spring rate that it comes with. they said that the shocks are valved to go up to 2kg more. so my new springs will ahve the max spring rate i can go and still be within what the shocks are valved for. that way i can decrease the dampening and still ahve the same stiffness.

I wished someone would write up a complete how-to on adjusting the front AND the rear. The rear confuses the shit out of me. And I am not talking about height, I am talking about the rear shock. I got the spring fine, but then setting the shock up to match the spring is where I was thrown for a loop. On the shock, it has a long threaded bottom that goes through the hole, and then has a nut on it, that I am guessing locks it in place. Does anyone know how to adjust the rear?

And Thai, can you explain what you mean about the front adjusting? I know the bottom ring has to be loosened and then use the C-wrench on the top ring to either raise or lower, correct? Or do I have it all wrong? Eff BC and their gay ass instructions!!! ARGH!

O ok i see where youre stuck. ok loosen that nut and spin it down the threads. then what you do is spin the whole shock body down the threads. this is how you do it. you see at the bottom of the shock its like a circular but the sides are chopped off (right above the threads/nut. its gold). then use a big open ended wrench, slide it on the flat part of the gold thing and use that as a handle to turn it. spin it down until you start feeling tension or something like that. then spin the nut back up to tighten it.

remove the front plate holder if you aren't using it. it'd look alot cleaner.

I bought smoked license plate covers to try and blend it in though. I hate front license plates!
Oh, and side moldings are coming off in the summer. I think that would make it look cleaner as well!

Its actually spray on tint (http://www.vhtpaint.com/niteshades.html). Cheap and effective. Dont go with to many layers though...even with just three coats the headlights are noticably dimmed.

2 answers.

1) FMIC came after the hood. Decided I like the look too much to change the hood again. More aggressive this way. Not to mention it keeps the engine cooler. Two full tick marks on the temp gauge lower than with the stock hood.

2) Yea not my brightest moment, in my defense I was a bit sloshed, but the plate is drilled directly into the bumper. This is ok anyway due to the eventual bumper swap that will happen in the future. Not sure which one just yet. I like the Corksport CS (http://www.corksport.com/corksport-type-cs-front-bumper-for-mazdaspeed-3.html)but I'm not sure I want to lose my foglights.

I am okay, the local FSP guys that trophied at Nationals don't show up that often. I went to SD and choked big time on day 1 but got fastest raw time in day 2. I haven't compete much with the real FSP guys yet so it's hard to say how competitive I am but I do want to be competitive, I want to go to Nationals this year but I might be a little off the pace. I will find out if I am going to Utah next month to see some more competition.

On the other hand...

Me got new wheels. SSR 17x9.5 +42, 23 spacers front w/ 235/45 Eagle F1's GS-D3.
