Anyone with a B&M short throw in an Mp3, can you tell me how you like it? Also can you tell me how much it reduces the shift? Also overall opinions would be helpful. I ordered one with a s-afc and i was just curious how nice i can expect it to be when i get it.

The short-shifter is great. I recommend it in every protege, especially with the bushings. The throws are short, precise and positive.

I have the B&M shifter, Voodoo Magnum shift knob, KartBoy Bushings and SRD bronzeoil bushings to replace the plastic ones at the bottom of the shifter. The combination is great but I do get alot of driveline vibration. So much that at highway speeds, I don't want to keep my hand on the shifter. The shifts are short, but after awhile, I got used to the throw and now I want it even shorter. I believe it is the shortest throw of any of the shifters but the knob sits higher than the standard MP3 shifter. I like that because it sits at a very comfortable height for my tastes. I believe it reduces the throw by about 30%. Enjoy your new shifter and don't forget to buy a new shift knob.

do i need a shift knob with standard mazda threads? Cuz i have heard that the MP3 has smaller threads.

I love my B&M, can't live without it. I believe its a 40% difference in throw...also, I had to buy a new knob, but it is possible to rethread the original knob. I had no patience for that, obviously.
Cheers,
Moose

Not on me right now...I will take one and post it. FYI, I have the pearl knob and it looks very natural in the car. Which one do you have?

i have the polished magnum, but i would rather have it chromed. i also want to get a short shifter, but i am leaning towards the KartBoy with bushings, and replace my shift boot with a civic type r boot. yeah, i know what you are probably saying, but my wife's car is a civic and the boot has a neat trim ring that will amte nice with the voodoo knob. that is going to be one mod that i will post good pictures of.

I have the B&M. But on mine i got impatient and tried putting a Type R shift knob My brother had for his civic on it. It was just slightly off so i got some vice grips and was making it thread into the knob when i guess i torqued it down too much and about 2 inches of my shifter broke off!!! I know i'm a dumbass. But i got a knob with the three srew things and put it on there now its a super short-short throw shifter.
