Hi there,

I'm new to the boards and I signed up because my Fiance and I are expecting a baby in December and my 2 door integra just wont cut it, i'm affraid.

I've been looking for a car that has four doors and is a little more insurance friendly than my integra but is still fun to drive and has potential for some modification.

I live north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada

We have been looking at getting a black 2001 ES 2.0.

now for some questions.

Does the 2001 protege have that baby seat connecter in the back seat?

What are the wheel lugs specs? I mean as in 4x100 or 5x114 or whatever they are.

I think 2001+ Proteges have the LATCH system for the baby seat, and i don't know about the lug nut specs, but i think it has 5 lug nuts

Hope this helps

I can confirm that the 2001+ Proteges have latch points for baby seats. Both my MP3 had and MSP has them.

As far as protege's go, I thought only the mp3,p5, and msp had 5 lugs. I could be wrong though.

yeah.. all cars have the latch for a baby seat. My 2001 LX has them, I think by canadian law/standards, all new cars need them.

As for the bolt pattern.. you'll have to check them yourself. There are certain 2001 ES's that are 4x100 and others that are 5x114.5. It seems like Mazda was phasing in their 5x114.5 when they were working on the 2001's, so it's kinda iffy. I've test driven a 2001 ES2.0 that had 4x100, and I've seen others that are 5x114.5.

I think regular ES's have 4 lug nuts and the ES-GT have 5 lug nuts with rear disc brakes(canadian protege)

^^ that's what i thought, but I queried a bunch of people with 2001 ES's on the Toronto board, and it was pretty flaky... a bunch didn't have GT's and they had 5x114.5.
I think it's pretty random, it sucks, but that's the conclusion i had come up with ('random' is usually my answer when i can't figure something out)
