Im about to get this tires. what does everyone think?
Would you recommend them?
Probably most important for me is grip in wet surface, we dont get tons of rain here in VT but the roads are so bad that water accumulates a lot and i end up hydro for long distances.

1010tires has reviews.
Its pretty good from what I hear, but I don't have these tires so I can't say anything.

I have them and I like them. They are on my summer RX8 rims. Eventho they are all seasons, they won't be seeing any snow/ice. They are very stable in wet and dry. They are more than adequate for a frequently spirited driver.

I had them on my old rims. Good tire. Great in the rain.

I got them last year & I love them. The front tires are starting dull out for me though. They ran me $460 total with an alignment.

I was reading a mag the other day and saw a pic of a guy smoking his tires. The thing that caught my eye was that they smoked red. Probably the coolest looking burnout i ever saw. The print says it was a pair of kumhos. Anybody hear/see such a thing anywhere else... and is this true of all kumho tires??

yup, Modified Mag... page 184 top right pic. Caption reads "Kumho's new tires produce red smoke...what color is next?"
I heard somebody saying soemthing about it a week or 2 ago, but thought nothing of it until i saw that pic.

Yep. That's the biggest reason I bought them.

the choices....the nitto only has 280 treadwear, but seeing as how i am not going to have those tires/rims on my car all the time, I think 280 will be ok

My Good-For-A-Years had a 280 and they only lasted 15,000 miles (and sucked much before that).

I've got 13,000 on the Kumhos and they still look almost new.

Thanks!

Even more weird.

Something tells me it's not tire smoke, though. I dunno... call me a skeptic but there has to be more to the story than meets the eye.

Nice rack on the model holding the umbrella. (naughty) Joyce Lex?

that is pretty cool. I know its a stupid reason, but if thats true i may have to get those.....that combined with 420 treadwear = kickass tire

I think its a very good reason 2 get them, since they appear 2 be a good tire. Anybody have any experience with the ECSTA SPT?? Very nice looking tire!

The picture doesn't say it's the Ecsta ASX, it just says "Kumho's new tires". In fact, it's probably not. It's probably some hi-po tire like the MX or Supra.

Oddly enough, Kumho does call the ASX an "ultra high performance" tire. That's pretty cool.

thats what I thought too. Is the ASX pretty sticky? I bet the nitto has better grip, but I cant get over that 420!!! thats so good.

Just found some more information (including a video!).

Looks like it's a legit tire, but definitely not an ASX.

http://www.ihra.com/streetwarriorz/news/2005/0708kumho_red_smoke_tires.htm

It's a derivative of the MX tire (as I suspected) and will also be available in a blue smoke version. (2thumbs)

I have the ASX's on my Probe and I love them. I will be putting them on my 3 when I need new tires. I don't have one single complaint about the tires, other than I wish they ran a little less expensive. lol.
