View Full Version : Do you hear that creak coming from the ceiling?

I've noticed that my Mazda3 Hatch creaks in the ceiling over me when I back out of my drive. The bottom of the drive has a dip that I cross diagnally. When the left rear and right front are on the top edges of the dip, I hear a creak. Sounds like the chassis isn't rigid enough to keep from flexing in that position. Do you hatch drivers hear that? Could front strut tower bar help fix it?
Thanks,

sunroof?
Yes, I have the sunroof. I thought about that on my drive in to work this morning. It only creaks when there is cross stress on the chassis. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Mine does this too.. time for a chassis stiffening.
I am brainstorming ways that I can prevent this from happening again.. maybe a set of tower braces?
Also, it happens when the temperature is hot.

I don't know if it is something that can be fixed. It still is a "cheap" car. Especially with the sunroof when it is hot. My Pro does it and it bothered me for awhile, then I got over it.

I'm taking my Mazda3 hatch in the shop tomorrow to have them check out the creak in the roof and the rattle in the passenger door. I'll update when I get the car back.

Got my car back last night. The creak is GONE! They pulled the headliner to adjust and lube the sunroof rails. The rattle in the passenger door turned out to be a Matchbox car my kid left in the door pocket. (braindead
Found out that Mazdaspeed is offering front and rear sway bars!!! Gotta have those. No strut tower bar offered, yet. They also have coilovers, springs, struts, REAR CAMBER LINKS, and several appearance parts available now.

Did you actually confirm price and availability on the rear camber links? Last I heard, they were as elusive as the Eibach kit.

You're right. I checked with the dealer and the parts guys said he doesn't have an availablity date. Right now they are no more than an inticing picture in the pretty brochure.
