I believe the dealer installed this as an option. Has anyone removed theres? and how hard is it? Im assuming its just double sided tape or something like it. I just wanna know if im wasting my time if i attempt to do so.

yes its just double sided tape holding it down....very easy process off taking it off.....
1. Heat with a heat gun or blow dryer.
2. Take dental floss (double it up 3-4 strands) and run it underneath the bumper guard to saw away the tape.....
3. After you have sawed away the adhesive take the bumper guard off...be careful when removing not to scratch your bumper.
4 Take some sort of adhesive remover and whip all the adhesive away....i used 3M Wax and Adhesive Remover.....can be bought at Wal-Mart....
then just take some soap and water after all adhesvie is off and whipe down your bumper just to make sure nothing happens to paint....

mine was really easy compared to the side moldings.. the foam tape kind of pulls off in strips instead of staying adhered. I used goof off to remove the residue and then gave it a coat of wax.
edit: if you use goof off make sure you use water based not latex based so you don't eat the paint.

hey guys, I was looking for one to put on my car.. I just find it useful because I like to sit on my bumper with the hatch up sometimes, and stuff like that. Wanna sell / donate the piece of plastic to me? PM me if either of you want to get rid of it.

not too expensive at all, plus it comes with the tape ready to go:

Not sure why someone would add one, though, unless your P5 is a real workhorse.

I put a few good gashes right where the guard by loading and unloading my bike. maybe its time for a roof rack.

I never got it from the dealer since it was like 45 or something if I remember right. I always figured if I scratched up the bumper there, I could just put the guard on and voila! Scratches gone!
Plus I don't like how water just pools there and dries.
I'll keep mine. obviously. With Mazdastuff selling new ones for $15, buy one.
