the MSP is still a protege....and I am sure you could purchase all the parts through a dealer and get them installed....but it would be VERY VERY expensive.....I can not even imagine how much....

Hell no, praise be. That is one of the best things about MP3 because in Canada, ABS is not an option on the Protege5 like in USA .. it is standard.

ABS is bad!!! If you know how to brake and have good pedal control its more effective to not have abs. abs acctually takes longer to stop but its safer, and sence danger is my midle name, no abs for me thanks!!! :)

just as expressed before i as well would rather have a beefier brake set up , front and bake, than having the abs. Abs is great for those who no not how to use the brake in a situation where the car needs to stop its fastest because it lets the brakes slip a lil to insure no slippage on the ground or i shouldn't say no slippage but very little. This is where promp3 had stated if u know how to use ur brakes and in such situations stated above and how to feel ur brakes through ur brake pedal then no need for abs because u can actually stop faster then abs. Another down fall in abs is say for a situation where u run off the road with an abs equiped car and u are in say loose dirt or sand which off the side of the road is everywhere and u slam ur brakes cuz u have the confidence in the abs slpping for u well guess what... ur brakes are going to continually slip because ur tires wont stop slipping. I know its one of those more rare situations but just something to think about. One of those things that make u say hmmmmmmm.
Peace,
Zane

ABS is good for rainy conditions. But in snow is where it really starts to suck. If you don't know how to use ABS it can even worse then not knowing how to use brakes without ABS. Some people up here just pull the fuse in their cars for the abs in the winter times. Then again, these are the same people that don't know how to use it either.

Some ABS systems are REALLY bad. cavaliers, Sunfires, anything GM really, or Ford Trucks/vans. They engage prematurely, and as a result you take FOREVER to stop. These are the cars that give ABS a bad name. Honda makes a good ABS system, and over the years I've had it, I learned to use it, and trust it. When someone would shit on ABS I would say....it's because your driving a sunfire asshole. They would laugh, and I would take them out in the Prelude and scare the @#$@#$ out of them all the while showing the how ABS does work when used right.

I've never experienced the ABS in Protege's, as my MP3 doesn't have it. But, this is a concern for when I move into the MSP. If all else fails, I too will pull the fuse for the winter months.

I was just about to recommend that. A lot of WRX owners just wired a kill switch in the their ABS systems. I for one don't care all that much if I was to have ABS, it make insurance a little bit cheaper. But I know my woman would probably need it. So, with saying that, I'm all for the ABS kill switch. :)
