Don't you know about how many miles you get to a tank?
I get 280-300 from mostly city dirving. I get 350 maybe all highway.

That's my car though, you didn't even mention what car you have.

I'm thinking your Protege gets around 25 - 30 mpg right...at 1900 miles round trip...hmm I'd say bring a good $50 for gas money would be more than enough.

also depends on what grade gas you use

I would take at least $75 to be safe. I would rather have extra money in my pocket when I got home than be stuck in the middle of nowhere.

this is my milage formula i get 250 to 300 highway milage, so 1900 miles ill just say 275 a tank so 275 can go into 1900 6.999999 times
round it to 7, i have a 12 gallon tank so i would need 7 , 12 gallon fills, down here in louisiana, its roughly 2.10 a gallon for 87, so 12 times 2.10 = 25.10 a fill, 25.10 times 7 fills = 176 dollars

u are getting 300miles per tank, thats 1900 miles u want to go, thats alot of fill ups and also my calculations are just on louisiana's cheaper gas cause we are a gulf state, california on the other hand is alot more.. like 2.75 a gal for 87 octane, to be safe i would bring 300 for fuel...

cant u tell i am in algebra for college right now... ask me 2 months ago, i wouldnt have ever been able to figure all that out..

i dont see how u get 50 bucks, thats about only 500 to 600 miles worth of fuel..

Well first I think you should plan out your trip, not just decide to start driving. Go to AAA or at least get out an atlas or soemthing and plan your entire route carefully, figure out how often you want to stop, how often you'll need gas, etc. It takes a while to get the preplanning done, but you'll be glad you did it in the end.

BTW, assuming you get the same gas mileage as most proteges (25ish highway), 1900 miles/25 mpg= 76 gallons of gas. Figure $2.40 a gallon (national average), that's about 180 dollars for gas, but you need a little extra justto be safe, so say $220-250 for gas alone, plus food and everything.

Like I said man, plan it out.

yep, but for some reason, the way u figured it out looks so much simpler... lol...

wonder why my 1.6l only gets 23 to 24(230 to 250 a tank) city miles, looks like yall are gettin more milage off of the 2.0

Someone finally being honest...I always notice people overestimate fuel mileage....I get maybe about 270 miles on a tank in my 1.6L..which is about 24-25 mpg...granted I drive it hard most of the time and it's a lot of city miles with A/C on, but I don't see 2.0L guys getting better fuel mileage than us unless they drive like grandma's....

thats when you should get one and establish your credit, i got mine when i was 18 also got a loan to buy a car to help establish credit, doing it as soon as you can would be better than waiting around just don't be stupid with it like sum people just use it to buy things that you can afford right away anyway back on subject i'd go with what everyone else says i'd personally take like 200 out just to be safe then again i always just use my debit card..

The 1.6 has a 12 gallon tank, the 1.8/2.0 has a 14.5 gallon tank
