Well, it's now set in stone that the P5 is going to get sold. If I can get 6500-7000 I'll be happy. I've recently wanted a 97-01 Prelude but I don't want a damn car payment! I'm going to buy a 90-93 Integra and do a B16. A DA integra is about $2,200 and the cable tranny B16A1 swap is about 1499 for the whole swap! Should be fun. I think it'll be alot of fun...and NO car payment! So begin the shit talking! (laugh)

Enjoy. I loved my buddy's b16 DA when he had it. Lots of fun to drive, but only a 15sec car :(

Yeah, with some bolt ons and maybe some CTR cams itll be a low 15...high 14 maybe. I don't care, B16's are fun to rev the hell out of.
The P5 is in great shape but it has 72,000 miles and i only owe about 7k so im not out to make a profit....just to rinse my hand of it.

Why not mod the P5 a little? A bunch of HP is just a turbo kit away. :)
I will be the first to say that this is probably a bad idea. A 90 - 93 anything will require more than an engine swap to improve performance. (Brakes, suspension, etc).
If you want a Honda, I would go for something newer, but AT LEAST a 93.
I think you might regret getting such an old car in place of your newer one.
(I would get a 5.0 if I was going to get something that old).

nah the sale is prob a good idea but id go 5.0 as well.

i dunno, I've always had a respect for early gen. preludes... thats prolly the only entry level honda i would consider buying...
you also have to consider that a complete engine swap with bolt ons and turbo for a honda is almost as cheap as a turbo kit for the protege alone...

meh its been done over and over again...I say be original and keep the p5, but if a car payment out of the picture. Then you gotta do what you gotta do and get the civic oh i mean integra ;)

he's already done mods to his car and gotten absolutely nowhere. Ebay SRI, OBX header, and MS axelback exhaust. He dynoed the car before and after. Gained 1 whp. Yes, he reset the ECU. He also knows that there's other variables w/a dyno. But how'd you feel if you spent $600 and found out you've only gone up by 1whp? It's manual too btw...

makes sense, hondas are a hell of a lot cheaper to mod. Heck there's a huge aftermarket for them aswell. Its just that the whole thing seems played out imho. But to each there own. I personally didnt buy the p5 to mod it and make it fast, to me its just a "looker". Thats why I had my fun with my civic hatch and srt-4 before hand :) . I plan on getting another toy later on down the road. good luck replica

I think that you're making a good move. To me, the Protege is too much of a hassle to mod. It needs so much work to handle any decent power, and huge HP numbers are pointless on a FWD car. I've decided to limit my mods to some basic appearance mods and some audio stuff to keep it a reliable daily driver. That way I can still have it when I buy a nice RWD sports car. (thinkin s2000 or miata right now).

Yeah I used to own a Trans Am, so I've had my fill of hard acceleration. That said, I've still done performance mods to help our lil engine out :).

HUGE numbers on a FWD car are pointless, 300 whp is about perfect. It can still be a reliable daily driver, mine will, if it is built right.
A Honda will hold a lot more power stock than our engines. Probably 100 wheel hp or more.
My car will be on the FAST end of daily driver.
Good luck on whatever honda you choose (I like hatches).

300 hp is pointless in a fwd daily... esp if its light. Anything lower then a 40 roll will be pointless. Unless you have super sticky tires which burn quick and cost $$$
Id say on fwd youd need at least a EBC in order for it to be daily.

I don't think modding a Honda is played out and I especially don't think old DA integras are played out..
http://www.tunerzine.com/articles/2005/featuredcar/issue03/da/images/a.jpg
The entire swap for a B16a1 is like $1,400 and I've done the work before, it takes a weekend to complete. hmotorsonline has great prices and i can find things locally as well. The reason I want to go with a 90-93 Integra over something new is because the hydro trannys are more expensive than the cable trannys on the older hondas.
Most of the "mods" I'd be doing are stock parts. A B16 swap is all stock parts. JDM headlights, tails and some interior panels are all stock parts. Even gettting some DC2 LS wheels are stock parts. The only aftermarket parts would be some coilovers.
I sure as hell don't want to do a foxbody mustang. Sure, 5.0's are neat but the rest of the car isn't. My roomate has one and it breaks down all the time and it has a brand new 306 with TFS heads and shit.

That's what it sounds like but it's still funny as hell to see a car with 8.5psi run high 15's! Hehe, my brother's B18B1 hatch that was bone stock, full weight and made maybe 120whp ran a 15.2 @ 91. Even my Civic DX with a D15B7 @ 4psi was capable of high 15's around 88-90 mph. I guess it's a mazdaspeed thing...

I wouldnt say its a mazdaspeed thing... He probably just doesnt know how to launch his car. :) With the trap speed of 95 mph on 1/4 I would say his car should be capable low 14s at the 1/4 mile.
