Guys,
Does anyone have this downpipe?
Is it similar to the MAM one?
What kind of fiifferences would you feel from this mid.
I already have a magnaflow ca back and I was thinking about changing the rest of piping.
Thanks

I've got the 3" Apex, definately a good mod. there's a noticeable power increase. But if I could do it over I'd totally get the MAM. I'd get the S-pipe, j-pipe, and midpipe. and if you can go catless, even better.

www.apexr1.com (http://www.apexr1.com) - go to the mazdaspeed section
i have the 2.5" catted pipe, and couldn't be more impressed with the gains. i had a 2.5" catback on with the stock midpipe, and with the addition of the apex pipe, it had a little bit more deep and aggressive tone, and the performance boost was very significant.
MAM has a downpipe and a midpipe (true turboback), so it costs more, but you may gain a little more performance by eliminating the stock s-pipe (downpipe).

from what people have to say on this forum, the s-pipe/j-pipe is the most restrictive part in the whole exhaust system. just replacing that with a combo one piece s-pipe/j-pipe will free up the exhaust flow alot. then adding a midpipe with a cat and then a catback exhaust, you will have a good flowing exhaust. to prevent cracking (there was a cracked apex pipe thread somewhere), be sure to add a flex pipe in there and upgrade your motor mounts and/or exhaust hangar bushings.

Do yourself a favor and just get a custom one made from an exhaust shop. I wish that I would have went that route. I now have an Apex 2.5 catless with a custom flex hose section. The one used on my pipe was crap and broke. So not only may the flex hose section break, the piping itself can crack.
