SMIC = much smoother power delivery, *much* less heatsoak, and a couple of extra horses, all for very little money and a simple install (compared to an FMIC)

hmm i was wondering the same thing compared to a FMIC which just looks cooler.

Turbohoses smic plus hardpipes and Injen Intake are the best mods I have ever done.
Turbohoses just made a new short ram intake. They used my car to create and test fit. Took them like half a day to make it. They made sure there were no issue with fitement with hard pipes. Good looking stuff, look out for it in a few weeks.

CustomMSP's SMIC doesn't fit perfectly, but has a bigger core. Turbohoses is a perfect fit and more expensive.

Could you elaborate on where the fitment isn't perfect?

its not really cheaper than going with a fmic, it depends what you are going to get. for example if you were to get the turbohoses smic + hardpipes it would actually come out more expensive than the begi or hiboost fmic kits. although the dsm pipes and custom's smic would indeed be cheaper.
anyway i had the turbohoses smic and hardpipes on my car, the performance was great, but fitment was kind of an issue. the holes on the ic didnt line up with the bolts so the fan was just a little crooked. the ic -> tb pipe would also rub against my battery

About the turbohoses smic fitment, my mechanic needed to bend the fan bracket a bit in order to get it to sit flush. It was nothing major.

as far as fitment goes on turbohoses SMIC,hoover spent a hell of a lot of time on it,he has installed it on my car numerous times.and also has tested the fitmant on other peoples MSP's.
he payed a lot of attention to detail, testing with factory pipes, and with his own.

I agree. Mine fit perfectly. I don't see how anyone could think there was any problem with fit.

The Turbohoses SMIC and hardpipes fit perfectly in my car and in **********'s. It is as if the car came from the factory with them, that is how well the combination is designed.
The performance gain is quite noticable. My car pulled significantly harder from approximately 3500 rpms until redline. Moreover, the "pulse" in the power delivery that occured at approximately 4500 rpms was reduced considerably. I have not experienced heat soak either, which is noteworthy seeing as I live in Florida!
I'd buy the combination again if I was starting all over.

when i get off work today, i'll go measure the clamps.
at a closed position, so the tightest it can go, it is about 2.25", remember, these can be expanded to a much larger diameter, so just don't get something too small.. like 2"

just don't use some hardwarestore clamp, they are to narrow and will cut into the silicone, and they cannot clamp enough.

werd, my turbohoses clamps are thick stainless steel ones. they are very rigid and can be tightened alot. but if you are really into buying some clamps, get those t-bolt clamps that have constant torque on them so they never loosen.

don't put the T-bolts on the factory intercooler,hoover@ turbohoses was origanally going to offer it with T-bolts,then realized that it wouldn't take much effort to crack,or crush the factory intercooler.

yeah sorry... i meant on an aftermarket intercooler. the plastic ones would crack so easily.
