good filter

Anyone have any info on these people.? I might try it out next oil change. wondering if anyone has used them or knows of any info on them?

Haven't heard of them, but I'll stick with just a plain premimum filter off the shelf with regular changes.

Looks like $99 for the MSP, which may be the same size as a regular Protege. I Googled around for user reviews but no luck. They have for 350Z and other cars so you might ask around in other forums?

Never heard of that filter but I WILL suggest two best filters that are known to me, Apex-i and Green brands.

Apex-i is VERY hard to find and even tho the websites advertise the sales of this filter, they are on a huge back order (called to cancel my order of this filter to some website, and they told me that Japan is out of them and that they cant get the filters from Japan for past 3-4 months)

It's true that they all have a bypass valve. I don't know about the 10-20% statement though. The valve is a good thing, dirty oil going through your engine is 100x better than no oil going through your system.

If you want the ultimate oil filtering setup, I would go with an additional bypass filter(this has nothing to do with the bypass valve in a normal filter) Basically, with a bypass filter only a small portion of the full oilflow goes through the bypass filter, and it is very restrictive so it flows very low amounts, but it filters amazingly well. It works in conjunction with the regular filter. The oil stays as clear as the day you put it in, and some can go for 100,000 miles without a full oil change, usually just change the filter element and add a quart of oil(soaked up by the old filter)

I can't tell what this particular filter is all about and I don't feel like reading thorugh all their marketing, but I'm skeptical of something that can flow so well and claim to filter well at the same time.

Exactly what's wrong with the OEM oil filters? You really don't think Mazda would use them if they were inferior, do you? Incidently, the RX-8 uses the same filter as the Protege.

I use OEM Mazda filters or Purolator PureONE if I'm lazy and dont feel like going to the dealer.

It's the 626 V6 filter. It has ~ 20% greater volume than OEM.
