Has anyone painted parts or their interior or parts on their engine? I started to paint things today, and I must say I am very impressed. I was only able to paint my defrost vents though cause I couldn't figure out how to take out other parts of my interior. I also painted the big plastic piece that sits on top of the engine and the fuse box cover. I plan to paint the the top of the airbox as well. That should boost my points up alot for shows. I put my car in a show here locally and took 4th place in the 1980 to present class. I was very suprised.

I am using that Krylon Fusion that bonds to plastic. As long as you don't put so much on at a time that it runs it will be fine. Provided that you pick a good color and all that. I actually painted the top to my air box last night as well and now it is done. As soon as my buddy gets back I will post pics of it, I don't have a camera. I didn't want to mess anything up on my interior, so thats why my defroster vents are the only thing painted inside my car right now.

I did the Plastic on my CL Type S. Two stage base/clear with a flax addative to prevent discoloration due to underhood heating.

I agree. It is a working progress, I am still working on that portion of it, but it is a start.

I have interior parts that have been painted. I was too scared of painting anything myself, so I got the fiberglass parts from DG and had them paint matched to the exterior of my car.

Do post picts when you finnish. I backed out on painting anything after my whole woodgrain interior install went south. I put sim CF paper on the black inserts of the "Flying M" on the engine cover. To get around painting it I just took armeral wipes to it and it's been looking better than new even after being covered in 0W-20 for a month.

http://www.msprotege.com/members/shane02pro5/13.jpg http://www.msprotege.com/members/shane02pro5/15.jpg I also used Krylon Fusion with crystal clear Krylon on the interior, prep real good and let it set a few days before, I learned about letting it harden before re-install on the second attempt. Looks perfect now, also did the rear corner window panels which can't be seen. Hi-Temp with Ceramic on the valve cover.

make shure you look on mazda6tech.com(technical only forum) for how to's cause some items like the radio face have hidden screws that if not removed will cause permanant damage to the radios motherboard and lcd unit which are extremely costly when replaced from dealer.
