I would like to share with you our results from yesterday at the track.

I was running 13.5 sec at the tests and the car got better and better as well as the track. Then I started to improve and improve and I wanted to go as fast as posible. The best was 12.9 and I think that the car will go to mid 12s easily with some more practice and getting used to the car.

All runs were at 12 psi on 110 octane race fuel, full interior and slicks in the front and skinnies in the back.

Here are some pics and a video.

not bad, mid 12s should be no problem with a better 60' and some good driving, judging by that trap.

nice run! maybe this is a stupid question, but why does the car seem to bounce alot when you shift?

That was the slowest looking 12 second pass ever. lol

Damn good mph. That thing is making some power!

Simply awesome (thumb)

I sense the MZ3 and MS3 will thrive once they've been around a few years and pre-owned ones can be had at a good price...along with paid off cars with owners looking for more power!

It's because of the grip of the slicks and that is why drag cars need very stiff springs in the rear. I use 1200 Lbs in the true drag cars. That would improve at least .300 to .400 of the time.

reason i put really stiff coil overs in the back in the p5, and stock springs up front(hence my 1.9 60's on regular d/rs) =), cheap way of doing it, but very effective.

Impressive. It sucks that its so hard to 60' a front driver. By comparison, we have cars in the F-body club running in the mid 11's with that kind of MPH. You got plenty left. Good luck!!

As a side not, this car on the street would be a KILLER. Shock the shit out of a Z06 Vette!

very nice. How long do you think the stock rods will hold up @ 12 psi?

Can't wait to see what happens with an LSD.
It's either gonna take of like a rocket or break some serious parts. (2thumbs)

Congrats! that is a sick run...I'm simply amazed when watching the video. Mazda3 owners everywhere are freaking out!!! I can't wait 'til you blow the engine, this thing it puting up with some serious abuse...very impressive indeed. Amazingly Mazda builds something that doesn't brake

in all seriousness is it just me or does that track look like its going downhill?

wow, color me jealous. all this on stock internals? also, what lsd's are available for the 3? quaiff?

HiBoost TS

The engine has already taken all the abuse it can get. I was practicing last Thrusday and made about 12 runs, then Saturday was like 10 more. All at 12 psi and with slicks. Everything seems to be holding up pretty good.

just curious why you didn't go with say a VF34 instead? The 34 spools faster, so they say, over the 22 and it's good up to something like 350+ hp. Anyway, just curious, nice run.. very nice. That would also explain why it doesn't look all super super fast off the line as the 22's have some bad lag from what I hear from the subaru guys here in Vegas.

i would think an lsd and some stiffer engine mounts would help out a lot right now... he has the power to much hop and slippage, i would think with those upgrades he could be down in the low 12's...

Yeah, but how much do you sacrifice to run a number? Do you throw away all streetability? Believe me, I have gone this route with my camaro and now it sucks on the street (no a/c, radio, heater, power steering, no carpeting, etc). You can take it too far, trust me.

Unless its a dedicated drag car, keep it street. You'll be happier.

Then again, if I didn't go that route with the camaro, I might have never bought my 3. (thumb)

Actually two things can happen; one its like your point or you break a lot of stuff...gears, axles, blown head gasket, bearings, turbine...etc

Once you want 10s on a street car w/ ac, ps, radio etc, you will need over 600whp which will be only possible w/ race gas and the body will start to bend and stuff or even worst...it will break a lot of internals.

he's running drag slicks and skinnies in the back, i doubt he drives it around the street like that =) so streetability is pretty much gone already(unless he changes rims/tires to drive him) i dunno.

i don't think an lsd and some stiffer motor mounts would loose streetability, you can go to far with motor mounts for sure... get some really stiff bastards but anything over stock has got to help out and not cause much discomfort on normal driving and an lsd i don't think will have a noticable affect for drivability.... but as you siad then you start takin out radio, ac, heater, pwr options etc... i want the creature comforts and the power damn it... (need to start savin for the caddy V series... hehehe)

hmmm here in PR its usual to see 11sec cars on the streets, the 11sec is with street tires....not slicks, moslty old 300z's, econo boxes like accent, 323, kia's and Hondas is even more usual.

others are driven on the streets normally and arriving to the tracks with the slicks on the back.

mp5jeff

a rwd car with slicks, and a fwd car with slicks, is 2 different things, you turn with your front wheels, and with slicks up front, that's not safe...

HiBoost TS

I do change my tires to race. It takes only 10 minutes to do it and is well worth.

Then I drive a 12 sec car on the street which is percfectly drivebable and smooth. It is amezing how you can turn your daily driver into a race car in just 10 minutes.

That would be funny as a pig with with a donkey's tail to see someone driving with the skinny's on the back while on the street. I would laugh my ass off so hard, gawww-leee. This one time ol' Jed put some tractor tires on the old Ford Pick-m-up and o man that was some good muddin, we even drove over grammas buick, we called that sucker Big Foot (and the rest is history). This makes absolutely no sense but that is ok. HAHAHAHA I even made myself laugh.

You can drive anything on the street. That doesn't mean its streetable. I just wanted to share my experiences. Plenty of people drive full blown race cars on the street (I do), but its not fun doing it daily.
