It seems that they guys at my dealership wanted this sale before the end of the moth so they went up to Michigan to bring it back for me. I just picked it up at lunch today. The fastest car transaction on record it seemed.
The car is pretty amazing. Bigger than I thought although I am used to driving a Miata and my 93 Honday Civic Si.
The color just brings a smile to my face. It looks so custom. I can't wait to see what it looks like in the sunlight. Of course it raining like mad here.
I am not sure how to post pictures but i will try it.
If you would like more pics let me know. Maybe I can get some inbetween the rain drops.

I noticed you're also from Cincinnati. It sure is ugly out, a sad day to pick up such a nice car. You wouldn't have happened to pick that up at Sweeney, would you? It's right down the road from here. Still waiting for my call from them :)

GizmoT,
I did get it from Sweeney. I started the MSP list at the dealership this past summer. From what I heard from them today, is that it will be about another 2 and half weeks. I work over on Crescentville just North of Mosteller. I would be happy to show you the car if you want to see it at lunch sometime.

Haha, you guys know how many are on "the list"? I just told them to give me a call when they get an available one in. I'm a little timid on giving them a down payment on a car I've never seen.

i am second and i am pretty sure there are some after me, you have to put dawn a deposit ($1000) before they put your name on the list. i saw johhny's car and it was simply amazing... dare i say, perfect. it is worth it gizmo.

I was intially prepared to give them a deposit, but backed out when they said they would charge well over sticker. Call me a traitor :), but I've wanted a Celica GT-S since they first came out. For the price Sweeney quoted me ($23,500) for the MSP I could get the Celica. Or an Acura RSX for that matter. So I told him to just give me a call. Maybe once they get more in they'll back off that price, cause it's WAAAY too much.

i paid $21,980, and make sure you let the dealer that you know alot about the car... to avoid bullshitting. go with the mazdaspeed, howmany people do you know that have a celica??? better yet dont get the mazdaspeed and let me and my man johnny be the only ones :)

Actually, there are very few GT-Ss around, especially in Blue. I've probably only seen 3 ever, and I'm in my car 15 some hours a week.
In any case, it kind of makes me mad that they quoted me much higher than you. Maybe they'd come down. I'm a Ford Partner, so they were gonna give me a pretty good deal on a leased 6... until I found out the resale value. A new 6 on lease was just over $400 a month :( All this makes Gizmo sad.
I'd like to get the MSP, but it's a little too pricey. I'll stop back and see what they say :).

Excellent, thanks for the tip. I don't remember who I talked to, but it wasn't him. I'll make sure I ask for Bob specifically. I appreciate the help :)

No, I was actually out of town for the New Year. I'm back now, though, and I plan on heading over to Sweeney either tomorrow after work or Saturday morning. I'll let you know how it goes...

My MSP is in the shop right now. I came home last night from driving on the highway and the car was steaming. I opened the hood and there was coolant leaking. A puddle quickly formed under my car of green liquid. :( I drove it straight to Sweeney's today and dropped it off. I am hoping it is nothing major. I have an Intrepid rental car now which resembles a whale.
I am pretty happy with the car besides the coolant issue. The car is very responsive and sold. I really haven't had a chance to push it much due to the break in procedure and the wet roads we have had since I picked it up.
I think the seats are very confortable and grippy. It is the most unusual material on the seats. I am still trying to figure out the radio. I get a high-pitched whine in the tuner when I am listening to stations that are not tuned in the best. I will need to see if there is a setting to correct this. I need to preset the EQ preferences that came on a card with my radio manual. I am curious to see how that sounds.
I have a very small Genie remote that I put a strip of velcro on the back of and it sticks very nicely to the front underneath part of the front seat.
The pedals seem to get dirty fast in this bad weather. I had similar ones with my TT but I fogot what a pain it is to keep them clean. I guess it is not that much of a pain.
I just want to see this car in the sunlight. I can't believe I have not had that chance since I picked it up. I still have hope for sun though.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. Did the car overheat to cause the coolant leak, or do you think it's just a leaky hose or something dripping onto the block? Hopefully just a little leak in the lines somewhere...

You know I think it is just a leak in a hose or a fitting. I checked the temperture guage an it was right in the middle. I am not sure if that gauge too accurate. I know Mazda skimped on putting accurate oil temp guages on the Miata after like '94. Not sure if this is the same deal with the Protege.
Still waiting to hear from the dealerhip. I'll let you know what happens.

gizmo, i have switched dealerships... i am now dealing with kings mazda in the kings automall. so if you want to go ahead and steal my spot at sweeney's if you want. but the reason that we switched is beacause they treated us like shit and feed us bullshit about the car. and kings has a black one coming in that is unspoken for(1-877-610-7827)

I don't blame you. I was treated like shit the one time I went in there. And I work for a Ford division. They're at least supposed to treat you with some respect. As I mentioned before, they quoted me $23,500 for the MSP. You can get quite a bit more car for that kinda money. Although the exclusivity is one of my highest selling points.
In any case, thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to check out Kings to see what they can offer. Thanks!
