our cars handle a LOT better than nearly EVERY other car out there in its price range...and a lot better than MANY cars that cost as much as 3 or 4 times as much.....
yes the MP3 and the MSP will our handle our P-5's....our cars weigh more.....and don't have the same springs/struts/bars as them.....
but just head our car off into some twisties and hang on....its amazing...
in last july or august edition of C&D or maybe it was Road and Track there was a chart in the back of the previous 258 cars that they had tested....everything from every end of the price range....meaning from econoboxes....to million dollar speciality cars.....of that entire list...there were only 38 cars that out handled our car......the list that ended up BELOW the P-5 was an impressive list of cars.....even including some of the Vettes, some BMW's, and many many cars that if you had to run them in the twisties...well they would be VERY surprised....of course the straights are another matter all together....

I don't know about outhandling a corvette....I mean I have had a chance to try out both for extended hours and well....you pay for it..but you do get much better handling..alot less body roll...it just hugs the road the way a wagon cannot.

believe it or not.....the Pro5, the MP3 when tested could run a 600 foot salom course faster than the current production vette....not much faster...but still faster....just being close is something to say for our little cars.....

Yes our cars are setup great for street handling and not too bad for the track either. Not necessarily the greatest for autocross but all normal situations are easy to handle.
MP3 weighs about the same as Protege5 I think...
The MP3 is approximately 66mph in the slalom.....if i remember it was 65.2 to be exact... that is DAMN good for that car.

Not good good for autocross? You should ask Big_Ben who wiped up the competition (even an Integra Type R) at his 1st autocross....in a STOCK MP3!! But your original statement still stands. It isn't the "greatest" car for autocross in the world.

I guess that I need to tell my daughter to slow down. She has been autocrossing the MP3 for just over a year now and won the street tire class trophy for 2002.

ahhh! hehehehe... I never said the car was bad.
I did this whole season in a Protege5 and it was my first year. Next year I will be campaigning the MP3 and see how I do. I'm sure the car is still way ahead of my driving skills. There is also no specific street tire class in my region so .. r-compounds for next year are a must.
What areas do you compete in .. against which other cars. Got results posted online? :)

We are in southern Arizona. My daughter runs the MP3 in the local events, I usually run my 10AE Miata. I have run the MP3 in the regional events in Tucson occasionally but I am out of town too much to compete up there as well. When I have run the MP3 up there I have won street tire class and usually run close to STS. Say a second off the class winner.
The local club's URL is:

The reagion's URL is:

Our new season starts on 12 Jan. It is tough to go a month without an autocross fix.

I have to wait from November to April ... (bang)
whoa... my mistake... i thought the slalom for the mp3 was slower than that.....

sorry to disappoint you ...but yes...so did the P-5....THAT is not the article I was refering to....that article only tested about what? 7 different cars?
the particular TABLE I mentioned was listed in the back of the july or august C&D or R&T...I don't remember which...and it listed ALL 258 cars it had tested so far.....not just some small select 7 or so.....and YES....the P-5 did out run the vette for that year in the 600 foot solom.....as I stated before...not by much...but it did.....quite an accomplishment for what SOME consider an econobox grocery getter......

Hey man, waz up! Nobody said ANYTHING about 1/4 mile times. Of course the 'vette would tear up p-5's, mp3's, in the 1/4 mile, but, we're talking 600 ft slalom here. The 'vette was close. I'am not surprised. We have world class handling in the p-5, MP3, and MSP. Any time you are in so cal maybe you would like to go up against my friend's 1974 Chevy Luv P-U loaded with a 396 big block and four speed trans?:D

so do the p5s handle better then say a normal protege (the highest model not an mp3 or speed???) How does it compare to all those racers i see around integras hondas and such..how about 240s???

Too bad you live so far away, I'd take you up on that...
(Heh, I own a P5, but I wouldn't be driving it... )
I raced a mostly stock (Borla exhaust, and diff. intake) 00' Auto. Corvette Coupe at the 1/8 track 3 weekends ago. (2 runs) It was fun, but not as impressive as I figured it would be. A fairly stock 98' Z28 beat him after I did...
Don't misunderstand me though, the Corvette is an awesome car, with a well established history... but there is no sense comparing straight line power between a Vette and a Protege'...
My offer is that I can piss farther than you can. ;)

integras(not rsx) are probably the closest thing when comparing handling but still not very close...civics are decent but still the grip isn't there...240s, well stock i felt like i was going to flip over in my friend's car, there was so much body roll
and yes a corvette is an awesome car no denying it but i still find it amazing that a cheap econo box like ours can handle just as good or better then a corvette and many other cars...but if i had to choose i'd go with the corvette...:D

that's pretty amazing so when somebody talks $hit about my car because how slow it is straight line I can confidently say " I bet i can out handle you!!!!"

yep, i can beat my friend's modded eclipse gst (stock supsension) in the curves, but he still holds the straights title...
oh well i can beat a 100hp+ car with my stock DX at something :D

Hehe. That's the funniest thing I've read. Someone actually thinking a sedan would outrun a vette in the 1/4 mile. lol. Oh wait, let me grab the JIC drag protege. Maybe that thing will do it. That's like apples to oranges.
If you want to outrun the MP3 in the slalom you'd better have a Z06 though. hehe.
I consider the Protege5 to be an incredible handling car. My P5 will outhandle a MP3 and all I had to do was upgrade my suspension to fully integrated coilovers. My shit rides good too.
IMHO, I don't think integras can come close in stock form. The Type R is another story, but Hondas FWD chasis engineering still has a ways to go.
The Protege is the best damn handling FWD car I've ever been in quite a few. I'm sure Nuke has been in even more. I mean, I have almost a decade on some of you and nuke probably has a decade on me. hehe.
Finally, with regards to your offer. Bring the vette down here to Cali where that convertible should be. I'll be waiting with my 1.3L wankel and I'll see if I can run down your V8 with over four times the displacement. hehe. I'd still be the underdog but it would make for an interesting race. Shit I'd run you in the miata if I had a standalone on it.

Oh yeah, wheelguruuu only had to worry about the hachis. RWD, known for drift. All you initial D peeps know what I mean. hehe. But for a FWD car to run that close to the most notarized drift car is phenomenal.
I think Falko just needs some JIC FLT-A2's and a Spool Stage 4 kit to increase his awareness of how sick his car can be with regards to performance.

HEY HEY HEY RISHIE!!! WATCH IT THERE!! lol (stash)
and IF you were to bring it to south cali...and you are anywhere around Orange.....and you happen to run up next to a medium blue 1967 VW Bug, and you look at the driver and he nods at you, you may want to think twice about what you are about to do....no need to get egg on your face in public, OR....get ready to get your ass spanked and good.....
its all VW....and its streat legal....and NO it has NO NOS....its all NA and breathing fire....its a friend of mine....and he will smoke your meat! ZO6 OR NOT.

lol. Sorry Nuke. Didn't mean to divulge "ancient" onformation. hehe. j/k.
With regards to outhandling the other wagons I'm very confident. The only to worry about would be the WRX and that's if he's done some work dialing it in.
As for power you may have something to worry about here and there, but power doesn't mean too much on a road course. Best weighing each vehicles attributes along with it's price.
