speaking of hoods, does anyone know how much the P5 hood weighs? all i know is, is that it's A LOT heavier that my old miata.

that's cuz the miata hoods are aluminum Jared. As far as i know, the P5's are steel. meh....don't know the weight, but it is heavy.

The Protege hood actaully doesn't wiegh that much heavier than a Miata hood. But no biggie.
And if I some how come across enough money for a carbon fiber hood, I would get the DG Motorsports ram air hood. It is well made and the hole is right about where my air filter is for the FM Turbo kit...
Make a simple little box to make sure all that nice cool air hits the filter and I'll be all set.;)

What parts do you need? You retain the stock mounting hardware.
And you pay for what you get. Cheap carbon fiber hood means a shitty carbon fiber hood. DG Motorsports makes nice sutff.

Lots of people bash the APC hoods, but there are a lot of satisfied Pro owners that have the APC hood. They are not very expensive, they look good, made in the U.S., can withstand 115mph without hoodpins (plenty of times) and are finish underneath. Its a good alternative. The DG and Fiber Image are higher quality but also more expensive and rather plain looking JMO. Here are a couple of pics:

i think I'm gonna go with the APC hood, after I get my wheels which are on the way. But I think I'm gonna paint the middle red and leave the sides CF, and maybe the w-vents too. I think that would look sick.

Are those vents functional (or can you make them functional) and if so, did they help the heat?
Thanks!
