Yeah either black or gunmetal would look pretty sweet.

Personally, I like them how they are, and if you are leasing the car, the dealer might not like it if you powder coat them.

Sorry, but black wheels, or even dark ones remind me too much of winter steelies. Kind of the same issue I have with carbon fiber hoods. They remind me of all the red necks driving around in cars with different color doors or hoods from another car.

If that's the case, and you like the look, go for it! Be sure to post pics when you do.

Off topic: although that Lancer didn't look too bad, why would anyone who wants to build up a car start with a Lancer? Blah. So much money to get the car even reasonably fast and good handling...
Now, the Lancer Evo, that's another story.

If you are planning on powercoating..
why don't you wait 'til someone get their '03.5 RH's. Then you won't need to poweredcoat and worry about chips or whatnot.
It's as simple as a swap, if you can find someone who is willingly enough to trade.
Just take care of the Silver Racingharts for now. I'm sure someone wouldn't mind trading.
just my 2 cents

240 USA for the complete P.C. job . and 60 for the wheel balance after they put the stock tires back on. By the way im from PA and the place i went to is just starting to get new customers in that want their rims P.C. so i guess they really dont know the right price for coatin rims so they just charge 150.

(rockon) EXACTLY!!! .... I have never been keen on the dark rims and was never sure why but Newf has hit the nail on the head.

Do NOT do anything to your stock racing harts, except to trade them .... and I wouldn't even do that. My job is in appraisals and valuations .... here's a big tip .... don't pay money to do something to something you own if it is going to de-value it. You may like the dark rims, which is taste and is cool, but the "majority" are going to want those racing harts as they are. If you coat them ... you're out the money it'll cost to coat them, AND the money they drop in value when you want to trade them or sell the car. Keep the rims pristine and get the dark rims somewhere else. If you have to, listen to Limited Edition and trade them .... they'll be worth more in trade as "chrome msp racing harts" then they will ever be as "chrome msp racing harts that some guy powder-coated".

I had thought of PC'ing the stock wheels also. But, only for a couple of minutes. The stock wheels are worth more, as they sit, than if you were to get them coated. I'm just going to keep the stock ones as they are, and get some black, or anthracite wheels.
I am defiantly thinking that black wheels, on an orange MSP, with 5% tint all the way around, is going to look very nice!!!

a friend of mine pc wheels. he just did a set for someone on the vw forum page(only good feedback). i was planning on doing mine when it is time to get new tires (mp3 racing harts). who cares about $. i own my car not as an investment (auto is not the best long term investment i hope you know) but because it is what I like. how much i sell it for will not be effected greatly. go for it!

if someone is interested, i could talk to my friend about prices. i think it would be $200 plus shipping(all four), but not sure.
