Yeah, two weeks earlier and you would be the first ;) That's cool, I was only able to get it because I lucked out on an ebay auction that was selling everything together. Otherwise, I would still be stock. I still have some pics of your old setup on my computer, although I definitely like this one better.

when i say drive, i mean meet up with friends and hang out. although there is a street here in town (39th) where a bunch of car clubs and random tuners meet up to show off cars, I cant deny that i'm guilty of driving by and looking every once in a while.....mostly hondas..in fact there are usually like 3 mazdas and i'm the only protege around lately.... "representin" in a parking lot is just boring and pointless to me.....unless i lived a dream world like faf3...*cue faf3 song* ......

you were prob. on a down hill or more straight road than i was. this was uphill on the way to lawton. i've gotten it to 132 before on a down hill before i had to brake cause there was a stop sign coming up at about same rpm

in fact..if you look at the photo you can see me just getting over the big ass uphill...and there were 3 people in the car...

Ya I was on my way to houston and had 3 people in the car as well. But mine was a nice long as straight away, my speedo said like 134 and stopped moving I pretty much topped out the engine. I think I was doing more around 140ish.. because of my bigger wider tires, they are like 5mph off at 70 and only get worse at higher speeds.

From the bigs you took, I think they look good. For some reason they seem to go well with the black with your car and the crome part blings with your polished lip on your rims.

the sides and rear would be easy to transfer, the front end wont fit due to the headlights. it would have to be a custom bumper.. hence why i went with a Erebuni body kit. the hood will not fit either, needs to be a 00-99 specified. let me dig up the link for the corners

on my car the center of the hood will be gloss black, two tone. like the wings west yellow mp3

The car looks very sleek, and the vents look great, I would leave them on. However, I think your old wheels were perfect. I like them better than the black wheels.

you can get bigger rims, with bigger tires, that will elimate some of the gap.

For me, it's just a temporary drop until I upgrade the struts. The ride is still very comfortable and I noticed less body roll during turns.

So I was one of 9 cars in the past two days to get some damage. I think mine is the most severe, though.

Sound system worth about $920 was taken. Car is at the dealer now getting fixed. Insurance is covering everything including the POS Chevy Cobalt I am driving now.

FYI - This was in my locked garage in my condo building. I have more stories about this if anyone is interested.

Two kids from the same building broke into my car by throwing a jack from a different car they broke into in my window. While it went through, it hit my steering wheel and broke that a bit. While they were reaching in to unlock my door and open my trunk one of them cut themselves and bled all over the steering wheel and some on the seat.

The best part about the whole thing is the police work, or lack thereof.

Of the 9 cases, only 5 made a police report because the other 4 the police just didn't want to bother with.

When the cops woke me up at 5am to check out my car, they pointed out the car was broken into and the sub/amp box in my trunk was taken. What they failed to point out was the large amount of glass all over and the front door broken into. Ummm duh.

They did not notice the extra jack laying on the passenger side that was not from my car.

They did not notice the blood on the steering wheel.

When I asked them to take fingerprints they declined.

Later that day when I reported this to the condo association, I found out about the blood from looking at the pictures. I asked if they wanted to take a sample before I tried and cleaned it up. They declined. While in the office, the condo manager was cueing up the survelance tape and the cop didn't want to bother watching it.

Since it was identified who did the crimes, the condo association evicted them. It was then they found some of the other stereos that were stolen (not mine). The police did not want to arrest them.

Justice system anyone?

I think people want to like CF trunks, and somehow convince themselves that they look good (maybe they look ok on certain cars, but the protege is definitelynot one of them), but I maintain that if they actually stopped and looked objectively at them, they'd realize how shitty they look

What looks good about it? It's like a mis-matching body panel. It's about as attractive as if you had taken one of the doors and made it CF. There's nothing sexy about the way the contrasting color meets with the fender or taillight or rear bumper. Forget for a second that it's carbon fiber (ooh OMG CF! FTW!) and take a hard look at it.

who ever said that carbon fiber isn't paintable? that trunk has some nice lines, use it. take some ideas off the mitsubishi evo 4-6. essentially the protege's body is the same. Also did the early 90's grand am come in red/turquise? there are 2 of them in town with mismatched body panels in the same places.

its not grainy, it's glossy, if you look closer it's not that the pixels are jacked but that he added an effect to reflect his suroundings on his car really good... I think it's cool...

That's cool if you like it. Personally, I think that effect would work better with a b/w photo, but to each his own. I think the classic red is represented better in the sig pic, which is one of the major selling points of the car.

I am bad at manual projects, so drilling into my car= accident waiting to happen. I didn't even bother to drill the sideskirt holes, I just printed out the pdf and paid the bodyshop extra to do it. They said I was the first customer they've had that actually brought instructions like that. And they were amazed that everything was stock Mazda parts, i'm guessing they see a lot of bad fiberglass kits where they have to modify it to fit.

yea, drillin in is an accident waiting to happen.... its easy to bend the eff out of it. my unles owns a body shop so i went over there and he showed me some tricks

I didn't drill my car either :P I got 5 self tapping screws and screws the skirts from the bottom up in the available screw holes, and for the top I used contact cement. Flawless design ;)

Yessir. 16" Rota Boosts with a 205/45/16 tire. 16 just seems like the happy medium - decent price, ride, and fit. 67.1 HB and 40mm offset should work, just need hubcentric rings. Defintely open to any suggestions though.

Color is undecided. I am leaning towards gold though, not entiely sure how it'll look. (shrug)

Yes, I've defintely been staring at Sanspeed's car a lot the last couple of weeks. wondering if mine will look as good as that. And then I got to thinking, shit I don't want to blatenly copy the guy, but then I saw he swapped wheels so Ifigured it was my sign to get them! lol. Yup I have steelies and winter tires sitting in the shed. Went myfirst winder with the stock dunlops, learned real quick that was a bad idea. Last winter I bought a pair of Michlien Icx-X and it was a world of difference.

I'll admit I was skeptical about putting in aftermarket foglights in the sedan bumper, but that looks very clean. Drop it and remove the side molding, and you're set.

^ exactly makes the car look so much better imo....I think eventually i'm going to buy a brand new lip as this one has cracks and scrapes on it but it was pretty cheap and it serves its purpose for now lol

the full lip kit for those is like... 200 bucks or something... way cheap...

its like 230 for just the front lip... side skirts are abnout the same, and rear skirt as well...

its like 650 ish.... not painted...

a buddy club kit costs like 400? seems over priced on the lips...

basically i wish there was an aftermarket one cause it would probably be alot cheaper...

i wish i could find the mazda one used...

well ym rant has changed... to hatred of lip kits...

i woudl rather have lips than a full body kit.... but body kits are cheaper? wtf????? isnt a lip way less material? if companies made reasonably cheaper lip kits, they would sell more and use less material than making a body kit... thus maximizing profit, correct?

down with ugly body kits, up with cheap lip kits, thats what i say!

The GT3 style rims look pretty decent on the Protege, don't see too many with those. Not sure about the piss yellow fogs, though...
