Thank you very much. I suppose just like everyone here i want to get the MP3 body kit, considering different wheels but i kinda like the stock ones, turbo upgrade, front mount, tint windows, take the orange out of the front lights, and that will be it for a little while. My wife says i cant leave well enough alone. I have a 76 F-100 that has a little over 30,000 grand in it. This car was supposed to be my daily.

Just wanted to ask you about a couple things....

1) What did you use to tint your tail lamps? Looks really good and pretty dark.

2) How hard was it to remove the VTCS?

Steve, the taillights are just gloss black and clear coat spray paint very easy mod basically just lay the black paint on "dry" and keep adding coats until you get it as dark as you'd like then lay a few "heavy" coats of clear to make them look shiny. i also waxed them a few days later after the paint had dried to kinda protect the paint and to make them look more glossy

as far as vtcs goes if your mechanically inclined its not to bad
basically you have to remove the intake mani off then you'll see the vtcs butterflies right there the easiest way to get them off is to use vice grips on the screws and break them free then use a screw driver other wise you prob strip the screw....and thats basically it if you got any other questions shoot me a pm

Nate - how did you fill in the holes where your badges were ?

You have to seal the hole. On way of doing it is weld a piece of metal to cover the holes from the inside and fill the holes with Bondo (body filler), sand it down and paint.

Its still unique even though it seems like "everyone" on the boards is doing it.Well, not only do you have to consider those who have converted their sedans, but also all those who have the factory kit on their MP3s and MSPs. It looks decent, but it also looks like all the other MP3s and MSPs, and therefore is not the most unique way to go. Personally if I ever have money nagging me to be spent on a body kit, I'd rather go with something like this

Personally if I ever have money nagging me to be spent on a body kit, I'd rather go with something like thisi suppose, but not really in my case... I never see MP3's here in town, I see a few MSP's and none of them are sunlight silver and 03 style(because they didn't make it). So if you gather every protege enthusiast up in one big group then sure I guess it wouldnt be very unique. However, I don't think I've ever seen or heard of a sandmica, dark blue or that aqua color MP3 conversion yet. At the time when I did my conversion the only other real alternative was the wings west kit and that kit wasn't worth the money imo(urethane vs. OEM abs plastic). But I dont really care, it's all personal preference, I prefer a more subtle look(stock) as opposed to "street fighter alpha centauri stage 3 fender ventilator road rage" kits.

Looks like mine did 3+ years ago when I bought it ;)

The rims are a nice choice, but you'll definitely need to lower your car if you add aftermarket rims. And I wouldn't go over 17". Make sure to double check widths, offsets, and tire sizes for fitment before you buy. I'll be glad to help with this if you aren't sure about what will fit.

go into your 'user cp' and select upload, then upload the pics from your computer.
then once its uploaded open the pic,
right click on the pic and select properties
then you'll see where it says 'URL' copy and past the entire thing
then in your post type url goes here
just paste the url you copied in between the IMG tags and your all set

yes i'll watch out for bumps but the bumper is very flexible so if i hit the ground, it'll probably only scratch the paint

Here are some pics of my 03 LX. Nothing too flashy...yet. My plans are to get springs, struts and sway bar, also I am looking at a BC2 body kit in the future, unless something better comes out. only current mods are my custom 2.5" cat back exhaust, my spoiler, and my tailights. more to come soon hopefully. I don't know what will come next...I'm an impulse buyer :), oh ya speaking of that, I just ordered some white msp gauge faces with blue lettering from Corksport! but i have a question : I bought a MP3 convertion in fiber glass (do not comment :)) (except the side skirt, they are in urethan) I have the front bumper, the side skirt and the rear lip. For the bumper it's ok, i switch my actual bumper to the other, but for the side skirt and the rear lip, i don't want to bore the body and the rear bumper. When i'll sell the car, i'll probably put it stock so i don't want to have hole everywhere. The side skirt will be fix at end of each side but in the middle, i'll put what ??? Someone talk to me about stick has urethan. But some other say me that if i try to remove the pieces, ill probably break them... But another thing lol, i live in quebec so we have nice winter !!! so i'll like to be able to remove the side and the rear lip. which side skirst and rear lip are u using?

for mine, i hav msp sideskirts and wings west rear. They only give the illusion of it actually being lower to the ground, so if you want take it off because you think its too low, don't. It won't makemuch a difference. It LOOOKS lower, but it realli isn't.

and yah, use double sided 3M tape or whatever!

I plan to daily drive the Corolla for a while and the money saved by driving it ( itspaid off and insurnace is like 20 a month on it) I will be able to buy my wife a nice car and take the Protege for myself and then really toy with it.

I sure love these threads, its fun to see what everyone has done.

Well I already have an Eibach Pro kit on it. Rims will come eventually, but I'm not sure if those will come first or a body kit. I would love to put an MSP front bumper on it with some skirts on the back and sides. I would also love to have some Tokico HPs to put on it. But as of right now I'm kinda shy on money for that kind of stuff. I'm hoping do to some of this stuff this summer when I'm making better money.

Do you have those seats as well? I would love to have those. They match perfectly with the grey dash and look so much better than what I have. Were they factory options on LX's? They would really set off my plain looking interior. And since this is a picture thread:

Thanks for the compliments on the interior, but no, they werent stock options. They came from a company in canada, dont know how much they will charge now for them. But when I did get them it was for a group buy on one of the Protege clubs I'm with. The two tone leather, with the embroidery cost me $700.00, and since I wanted to make sure they were put on correctly, with no loose ends I paid to have them installed. Wasnt that expensive, but it wasnt cheap either, all together it came out to $1100.

So in all I have done the
1. Leather interior
2. Tokico Hp struts
3. Tein Springs
4. 18" rims, with 215/35/18 Falken tires
5. sound system, 2 12" Fosgate P3's, 3 Kenwood amps, 2 sets of component speakers. One set to replace the front factory, and I removed the second set from the rear deck and put in the second set of components in the rear doors, with the tweeters on the rear deck. The head unit is also a Kenwood
6. Alteeza tails
7. Optima yellow top battery.

Goal is to just once put it in a show, just to see where I place. Have three more things I want to do and then I think I will be content.

1. Shaved door handles
2. PS2 (slim) glove box, with two visor monitors and screens on the headrest
3. Intake and exhaust

Well all in all I hope ya like what I have done so far, and if the time ever comes, for your best wishes if I ever do decide to put it in a show.

No I blacked them out on purpose. The turn signals are in the center part of the head light. The outside ones are just running lights so I did away with them. I took out the amber lense in there so u can see a faint bit of light through the crack between the black and the headlight part so I replaced that bulb with a blue one. looks pretty good with the running lights on.

Thats true huh? No real need for them. Curious to see the night pics but it does look good. I used to black out my stuff with Model Car window tint spray from a hobby store but it was done on the outside and would wear away after 4 or 5 months of washing. When it was dark outside you could easily see the lights, it was pretty transparent stuff.

Look at the middle left picture of the Jeep for two orange reflectors that are now black

Ya but if someone turns into my bright ass white car thats next to them, then I suppose they deserve to pay to fix my car. (thumb)

Not to mention, if they are in a position where they would see my corner light, they would be able to see my headlights first and foremost. If they could only see my corner light then I would have to be far enough ahead of them for them to be able to see my car out of their front windshield.

I had both of my corner lights burn out within a week of each other, and I liked the look of just the front turning lights so I didn't replace them for 3 months. I didn't have any problems. Of course, without the side marker lights and with a black car I see where Nate0123 is coming from.
