an aem intake would not have really done much....the exhaust is what most likwely caused the flames..but you're not gonig to get flames with just an intake unless there is something seriously wrong with your car

the mount is some cheap ebay bracket thing - if i had know before i bought it, i would have gone to lowe's and picked up some angle bracket and made my own. but, this was easier. (i'm lazy)

First, I was unaware that you were going to start paying for my mods. I was also unaware that you're opinion mattered to me as far as what I did first or whether you believe asthetic mods to be functional. But just so you are in-the-loop, suspension will come in time. Currently my car is still under warranty, and I don't really wish to have any issues if something were to go wrong. And side by side, if you still had your's, mine would attract more looks than your's. Also, please note that there were no pics of what I have sitting in my garage just waiting for the warranty to expire and there are no pics of the engine bay.

I disagree... i think nates right, most people would look at your car and see it as unfinished. I got plenty of looks in my protege with very few asthetic mods.

that being said, to each his own. i would hope you are modding ur car for your own satisfaction rather than to please people on this board (or elsewhere). so if you like it, then who cares what we have to say?

I put my MSP kit on a year before my suspension was done. The wheel gap sucked, but it worked and I was able to save up to do the suspension right. I felt my car looked cheap without the kit and wanted to do that first.

don't chrome it for goodness sakes!!! strip the paint, and polish it. It'll be lighter. (and cheaper)

really autoxes? and how would be the best way of going about stripping the paint as to not damage anything and what polish is good to use so i do it correctly and well. if it turns out nicer i dont care how much money the products will cost since chrome would be more expensive anyways. thx for the advice and i hope it turns out nicer than the chrome. it would make me a happy man since i would then have more money for other things.

Holly crap... i just got my ass handed to me on a fucking platter.

So i'm on the Southern State Turnpike in NY on my way into Queens and I see an Evo speed by me at about 70 miles and hour while I'm doin about 60 and i say to myself, "Let's have some fun with him". There's a moderate amount of traffic around and I catch up to hima and we start dippin in and out of traffic. I was all over this kid!!! My '01 ES actually stood up to him in the handling department (I'm pretty sure my Tokico Shocks, Eibach Springs, Ractive (Toucan) Strut Tower Bar and Hankook Ventus Tires had something to do with that). So now I'm feeling kinda bold cause I can hear my "Newly Installed Turbo kit going hard. But then we finally get to some open road, just what i thought i had been waiting for, and we're both neck and neck and doing about 110. By this point my balls have shriveled up and I'm just waiting for him to back down before I have a heart attack. But he didn't so i didn't! We both accelerate. 115 mph he's pulling away, 117 still pulling away. I got close to about 120 when i realized I've never in my life seen a car accelerate like that after 100 mph.

Fun! But i see that i still have a ways to go. Still Fun none the less.

Nice, an ES with all the options. I'd suggest the sedan front lip and the sideskirts/rear lip.

Got any pix on how u did the dual exhaust?

This is a bad pic of how the exhausts is set up.
Its being divided after the catback? into two outputs
which make an even flow of exhaust gasses.
Right behind the spare tyre compartment and mounted to the backpanel.
No problems with the towing hook, works out great.

their has been a couple with 19's, joka comes to mind, but their was one a couple years ago, black one, with a buddy club kit, that was on 19's as well, joka is on some sort of coils, but not sure about the other one, but you would probaly have to run like a 30 series tire at MOST, with the 19's and be rolled

the back bumper is the best aftermarket one ive seen for the protege, its better than the shogun back bumper that has a place for dual exhaust on a protege(wtf???)

I like the dual exhaust ! and the rear bumper skirt. Did you forgo the muffler ? Is it loud ? I like the way the 4 banger 6 has dual too.

yea i took it out and folded the mesh over the radiator mounts, took off one bolt and fit the mesh over the screw, then bolted it over it, pretty simple but i cut my hand on the mesh the first time cuz you have to cut it for the hood latch.

i had the apc's cf taillights, but the lens started to yellow so i threw on the tint. keep getting pulled by the cops so i just put on my oem ones that have been sitting in the closet. i liked the tinted ones with the trunk, but don't want anymore problems with the cops.
