how plausable would it b to build a sequential twin turbo setup for the 1.6L engine if money wasn't a factor

the 1.6 seems to handle boost well from what I hear, so it's not all that far-fetched. as long as maybe each one is around 5 to 6 psi and possibly lower the compression ratio of the cylinders...

it's possible, but maybe not as practical...

its possible, but not gonna really put a big performace boost, the ihi turbo in hiboost kit will do just as much as a small TT kit.. plus less of a headache..

why ???

there is a reason full drag supra's and race skylines and such are converted to single turbo ... i dont know the reason but im sure its a good one :).

i believe that twin spool faster but does not create big boost pressure. my neighbor got more boost running a single turbo on his drag rx7

please tell me this isnt the same idiot that posted about a 1.6 TT on protege club...

why ???

cause he likes spendin his parents money.....

i say it is pointless to do it, and down right dumb...

1. We dont have that much room in there for TT
2. Get more power from hiboost, i would trust a kit that has pushed 20 psi at ~300whp
3. That would have to be 2 tiny turbos to get them to fit,
4. ITS JUST PLAIN RETARDIT

pointless!!!!,my car reaches full boost at about 2.5k, maybe less, so to say less lag, is just dumb, lol

hey i'm new to the site and was just throwin out a simple question that i had been curious about for a little while considering they always say 2 is better then one and TampaSport20 no i'm not the same person from protege club

this kit makes more than enough power on the 1.6 : http://www.mazda3online.com/product_info.php?cPath=136_27_99&products_id=461

twin turbo is not really going to do much for you on this engine

just do a FD-TT conversion! :D

agreed, Any of the mazda engines (FS or BP) would be much better off with a single turbo, only because most turbos available to our cars are (relatively) small and dont have huge lag. TT is used to decrease lag and get a more even powerband. simple as that. Its great for slightly larger displacement engines and can sometimes be a good option for someone who wants 8 bazillion hp but wants it before they hit 6500rpm.

On the 1.6 or 2.0, a TT setup would be overkill, because a single turbo will be a lot easier in parts and install, but will also have a pretty low lag phase while keeping weight down. not to mention the whole space factor too...

well, not all true... the FI setup directly relates to how you want to run your car. I see a lot of track skylines here still running TT setup. Thats what my car is and i intend to keep it that way, as i have driven both single and TT on a skyline. But you are correct, if you want a 800hp skyline for the strip, ditch the TT and go with a huge turbo. Add nitrous to help low rpm situations and there you go, a 9-10sec car. I do believe that most course-tuned supras and skylines still maintain the TT setup though, for a multitude of reasons.

damn mine hits it about 3.5 .... 2.5 is ridiculous !!mine used to hit it at 3.5, till i changed my piping to 2 inch, i had 2.5, but it was wicked laggy, so once i changed it cleared it up.
