It's a "concept" car. It won't look anything like that. Kinda like the new Dodge Charger. The concept looked great, I would have bought one in a heartbeat. Now look at it...4 doors, looks almost identical to a Magnum.

I'd drive one.... Throw some 22's on that thing. It almost looks like it's trying to be a little too tough when it's not tough. It should be more luxury/non-offroad oriented like the RX300, X5, and Murano.

Are you guys kidding?
Have you seen the size of a Murano? It's f'ing huge. How in the hell does this car resemble NEAR the size front and back as that fat Murano?
Similarities? Yes...
Differences? Plenty...
First off, the CX-7 is far lighter, sleeker, and has more CAR in the design than SUV. That's obvious. Those calling it a Murano knock off are dreaming. I doubt that this car will eat up the gas mileage that the Murano does.
It looks more like they took the idea of a wagon, made the body bigger, and put bigger wheels on it therefore calling it a crossover SUV because its bigger than a wagon, but smaller than an SUV. Anybody want to throw any bets about how this car will deliver in handling?
SUVs drive like trucks. No grip or cornering because of their top heavy designs. I got my best money that says this vehicle will out perform every SUV small and heavy in handling and quickness.

The Murano looks small, and it is nowhere near huge. It has the same wheelbase of a Maxima, which is six inches longer than a Forester but it's still a manageable size. Huge would be an Escalade or something that pollute our roads.

Some of the changes you can expect from concept to production: Wheels, though gorgeous (IMO) will never make the transition. They will likely add a tradtional shifter (probably an autostick) and the 'orb' on the center dash will be traded for something more 'common' looking. I also predict the top of the steering wheel won't be brown, but the wheel will probably get some aluminum accents added (it's strangely plain looking for a concept). I'd also be surprised if the brown stripe in the seats made it to production.
I'm not a big SUV fan, but I could fall in love with this one if it made it to production intact, especially if it's as fast as it looks.

for people up here in canada i could see it making sense, but why the hell do you guys even have SUVs in the southern states? need lots of height and low end torque to drive on the freeway? and they arent even safe, just give you a false feeling of safety because they are so large. they drink 2 much gas 2, they are the opposite of what we need more of in the world and yet americans cant stop buying them. if you feel the need for more room becasue you have kids jsut get a mazda5. oh well at least it looks nice, i bet they will sell tons in quebec where they are actually needed.

One would be wise to compare it more to a Volvo than a Nissan. I'd say it's probably on the chasis of a XC90 just as the MPV vans are. Volvo (Ford) and mazda share a good many parts these days.

Not just in Dallas, but the whole fu<king country.
This country seriously need a major reform for driving test and licensing.
They need to give a fu<king different kind of test and licensing requriment to those who decide to buy any mini-my-ass-van and mega ass-U-V that is bigger than a Toyota Rav-4/Honda CR-V/KIA Sportage/Jeep Liberty.
Cause we are surrounded and endangered by bitches who can't do back-up or who do not shoulder-check when crossing lane on freeway everyday.
I almost crashed into the bottom of a Chevy Blazer last week because that bitch who has her belly touching the bottom of the steering-wheel, decided to merge into my lane without doing shoulder-check. Glad that the 4 wheel disc brakes saved me and and my wife.
Sometimes, I do believe my P5 is really invisible on the road. Too bad it's not really true when there are cops around and I am speeding.

no key sounds scary
Example: working on your car, the battery cable is unplugged, you close the hood to go in for a drink. The doors were already locked. Now you're fucked.
I hope the fob is waterproof too if that is the only way to open and start the car.

My friends and I always talk about the cars that we own. This includes about 5 cars per person:
1) Autocross car
2) MPG fuel-efficient car
3) RWD drag racing car
4) Offroading AWD car
5) Old classic
Let me focus for a moment though, on if I only had the chance to own one "all-encompassing yet practical car".
This would of course, include AWD (not 4x4 which is very different at times), it would have to be fuel-efficient within reason (27-35 highway), have low center of gravity yet high clearance, be able to hold 4 people and/or have cargo space to carry everything for a weekend camping, and of couse have the highest amount of horsepower and/or torque possible vs. its weight.
So what I'm looking for, is a lightweight car (weight sitting just above the axle), with probably a turbo or super (to keep the fuel efficiency but keep the horsies), AWD with smart traction control on all wheels, just enough space to load people or cargo as I see fit, and appearance that makes me look like I have no family to come home to (bwahaha).
With little specs, it's hard to tell if the CX-7 is for me, but there's always hope.
P.S. Renesis engines are always super cool and are still capable of towing.
