In a town of less than 75,000, our local Mazda dealership sells Mazdas only. This seems pretty unusual, as most Mazda dealerships seem to sell another line of cars too. Are than any other small town Mazda only dealers?

Actually, in my experience that's more common than a big-city dealer carrying only one brand. My hometown of 26,000 people had Chevrolet-only and a Dodge-only dealerships. On the other side of the coin, I bought my 3 at Hancock Mazda, Mesquite Texas (Eastern suburb of Dallas). If someone finds an untapped market, sometimes they can make a good business on one car brand.

Topic: I have a Mazda only stealership here in Erie, Pa.
Off topic: Here in Erie, Pa We don't have a Saturn dealer which I think is ashame. Not that I like them but they are good cars and they are quite reasonable. I called Saturn and they said it requires about 1,000,000 USD to start a Saturn stealership.
Here where the economy is VERY CRAPPY a good, affordable car stealership would be a smart investment.
Anyone go a mil to drop? J/K

I am pretty sure that all the Mazda dealerships will soon be Mazda only. I was talking to the owner of a dealership here in Pittsburgh and they were switching over from Mazda/Cadillac to Cady only. I ask him why and he said that Mazda demanded that they be Mazda only and there just wasn't that big of a market for the MAzdas in that area.
It sucks because that dealership was the closest and most convenient for me to get my oil changed. Now I have to go to the dealership in which I purchased the car. It is about 35 minutes in the opposite direction of where I live and travel for work.

Its not a 'demand', but MazdaUSA gives a lot of incentives (both monetary and otherwise) to dealers who are or plan to change to be Mazda-only. Having a significantly higher percentage of Mazda-only dealerships is a huge goal for MazdaUSA right now (well, it's been for a couple of years now).

The dealership I bought my car at is pretty much across the street from Mazda's North American Headquarters. They share their lot with a GMC dealership. They have gotten a lot of crap for it, so they bought a new lot and are now seperating the two. They are a pretty high volume dealership, and with the recent growth of Mazda, need a more space. I think as Mazda grows, you will see more independant dealerships. By the way, what is with people calling them stealerships. I own a business and understand the need for making a profit. Remember selling cars is a business, and they are just out there to make a profit just like anybody else. Some dealerships are shady, but most aren't. If you want to make fun of a business, look at Walmart, talk about fucked up business practices.

Wayne Mazda is a Mazda only dealer. It's located in Wayne Township, Passaic County, NJ, a suburban community about 20 miles from midtown Manhattan (NYC). Local area population is ~ 54,000.
This is a large dealership with modern facilities and a really helpful, friendly and competent crew in the parts and service departments. IMO, a quality dealership.

The owner of the Mazda dealership I am referring to does not own another dealership.
Many of those separate facilities are still owned by the same outfit, but I think this one is a little different in that it is their only business. They do have a big used car business, however.
