w00t... finally done getting the Mazdaspeed Protege springs in ( Racing Beat springs). Thanks to all those that helped me with any problems I had (spinning strut nut, endlinks, and whatnot).

I think it looks great, although the back is a little lower than the front. Oh well. I don't feel like investing any money in getting new springs at the moment. I don't mind it that much anyways.

I haven't ridden around a whole lot yet, but ride quality seems similar to stock. Plus any additional noise I noticed was thanks to having the rear panels missing. We'll see tomorrow.

The install wasn't too difficult. Like usual, allow plenty of time to compensate for any "roadbumps." The main thing that sucked were the end links. Luckily you can get around those when doing the spring install. I went ahead and ordered the AWR 21mm bar with endlinks anyways though. I'll enjoy axing the stock endlinks out. Now I just need to save up for some struts... HP or Illuminas, so many choices!

I am also a little bit closer to having the stereo install completely polished. Using some carpet scraps, I covered my box and put some hooks in it. Now I can hold it in place with bungee cords and take it out easily for autocrossing or whatever. The only things remaining are to make a cargo tray in the spare tire well and install my new CD pocket in the dash.

Sorry for the rambling, it is late. 7am is creeping up far too quickly...

what size are your rims? I'm thinking of raising mine back up with MSP springs, just dont want much gap.

those are 17's i believe. I think the reason your back is lower is the weight of the hatch. The springs were designed to go on the sedan, not hatchback. but i think it looks real nice.

Hmm so 18's would fill the gap up pretty even all the way around then. I just might have to get a set of these.....

Ah, that makes sense. They are indeed 17s (215/45 rubber). Thanks too :)

After driving on them for a couple days, I think that with these you feel the road more. Like the "waves" in pavement and crap. Or maybe that is just because I am actually trying to notice now... heh. It isn't noticeably bumpier than stock though, which is nice.

you will have to make the daimeter of the tires bigger to fill in the wheel gap, not just get 18's.

if he was to get 215/40/18's the gap would stay the same. if he were to get 50 series tires his speedo would be about 4% under actual reading but it would fill in the gap.

215/40-17's would be exactly 1" smaller than 215/40-18's. The tires are both the same width (215mm) and sidewall (40% of 215mm, so 86mm sidewalls) but the rim is 1" bigger on one than the other.

i have the msp springs on my sedan and the gap between tire and fender is larger in the front than in the back. the car actually sits level with the road now whereas before the back was a bit higher

my maxspeeds did the same thing. I like the flat look of the car now though!
