'Sup, guys. I totally dig these boards. My wife and I drove home with an '04 3s Hatch in Black Mica spankin' new (w/ $1000 rebate) off the lot a few days ago. I've been looking around and I love the gape-mouthed Kenstyle grille (or something that looks similar), but was wondering two things:
a.) is it possible to purchase the grille anywhere without the rest of the bumper fascia kit?
and...
b.) what are the chances of getting one either in chrome or having an unpainted one chromed?
Thanks for whatever two cents you guys are willing to cough up. I'm head over heels in love with our ride (we named her Myra), and I'm sure you'll see a lot of me in the future!

i dont know for sure but like 99% sure that you can get the grille without the rest of the bumper if u look on accolades website. and as far as getting it chromed i know they come unpainted and could take it somewhere or send it out to get it chromed. i have no idea about the prices for that or how well it would hold up to chips and dings from everyday driving but i suppose you could find out.

Hmm.... thanks, man. It's a ways away from happening, anyway. I'll keep my eyes open.

I was thinking about plating my cars grill in chrome and from the quotes i have gotten it can get rather expensive. But my car is not a protege and and it has a much larger grill than it. Try to find some place local that does the chroming so you wont have to pay for the shipment.
I found out that coin minters also do chrome plating and they offer some off the lowest prices. If you have one local to you that would be the best bet.

thats what i was thinking, you have to have metal to chrome it... its part of the binding process with the elelctricity and shiat... inert materials such as plastic, fg, and the such can't be "chromed" though you can buy some sort of paint and paint it with a chrome look.... they do make a billet grill insert for our cars... that may look kinda like what you were thinking....??

there's chrome paint out there, i remember they used to have it for old school bumpers.
could also try a chrome vinyl wrap (but this stuff scratches REALLY easy) there's also brushed aluminum, does not scratch, or atleast it's extremely minimal. Dunno how it would hold up to multiple washes, but a roll would last a lifetime :)
anyway, there's my .03

there is a spray on chrome that is 100% reflective just like chrome, it looks and feels just like chrome, not a cheap spray can either, this machine is expensive, I know cause I am buying one in the next week or so. IT can chrome anything. There is also whats called Vacuum Chroming which many people use to chrome plastic, but it scratches off very easy.

What are you buying it for?
Would you chrome some pieces for a fee?

The place is located in Florida, three are only 2 places in the USA that sell this product at the time being that we know of. My brother and I are starting oour own business called 905customs.com but I am not a vendor on here yet so I am not sure how much I can say. We will be charging for these things of course but our motto is to keep it cheap so we get more customers, not charge super high prices.
