Does anyone experience any clutch shimmy or shake when taking off. My problem is intermitten, and seems worse in the cold. I'm afraid to take it in to the dealer because it doesn't shake all the time. Only once or twice a day. Could be the motor mounts too. Please help!!!!:'(

Yes...this is a common problem. There is a service bulletin regarding this "clutch chatter." If you do a search, there is another thread that contains a survey of other owners with the same problems. This problem doesn't bother me enough to have the clutch worked on, but I'm used to grabby clutches. Once the car is warmed up the clutch engages smoothly.

The only time this happens to me is when I bog the clutch. Give it more gas and that should correct the problem. Don't floor it, just a little more throttle. Also, don't fan the gas or the clutch. This make's it worse. Just be consistant. Get off the clutch as soon as possible. Don't pop the clutch. Release it smoothly.
Hope this help's you as it did for me.

Not to start a flame war, but assuming that the person driving is seasoned in driving cars with manual transmissions, they should be able to tell the difference between a chattering clutch and a sloppy launch. They are two completely different things. If a clutch is chattering, it will be evident no matter how good or bad the driver's footwork is.

Thats what I used to do and it worked for me as well. Funny though when I reached around 18,000 miles I dont seem to have the chatter or jumping anymore.
