1999 Mazda Miata MX-5
81K Miles -=- 5-speed
Silver/Black Base + LSD

This car is setup up and dialed in to be a great AutoX/Track Car. While it can be a daily driver, it really lives for twisty back roads, running through the gears. I bought this car used 2 years ago with 40K miles on it, it was stock at the time, i started trying to save weight and make the car handle better and finished off with giving it a little more power. Its set-up great, its a blast to drive and I love it. You cant drive this car and not have a smile on your face. She is in perfect running order and ready to drive. I am selling it because ive come to a point where i need a back seat. Anyone who is looking for a RWD, light weight car, here you go!

At 75K miles I did a full tune up : Plugs, Plug Wires, Timing Belt, Pulled off the intake manifold and throtle body and cleaned them, Cleaned the Fule Injectors, Cleaned out the fuel line, changed the fuel filter, new water pump, new transmission fluid (Mobil 1), new differentian fluid (mobil 1 with friction modifier for LSD), Flushed the cooling system, alternator belt, Valve cover gasket, Brake pads.<scr ipt=""><!-- D(["mb","

I know he has dogged the hell out of this car. It also has 80k+ miles. I feel I should offer $4-5k cash take it or leave it.

What do you think? I mean, I am getting a Miata this summer and it doesn't have to be this one, but the guy is nice enough and I really like the 2nd gen platform. I'd say $5k is fair for a 1999 with 80k miles.

He wants it sold by the end of this month.

I just offered him 10K and he took it. HA!

I love everything about that car. But I bet you could talk him down a thousand. Less than that I could easily see someone picking it up.

well if you can get it for 5k it'd be a steal... most 99s are still in the 8-10k range. Especially right now being spring and all....

That being said.. I think he, or whoever trys to sell this car next will be up a creek.. there's very few who will want the a/c delete, p/s delete and giant holes drilled thru the bumper. That just looks ghetto to me...

I want a 94-97 more because they are lighter. I saw one on auto trader 80 miles from my house. A black 1994 with the tan interior. That's exactly the color combo I want but it has 180,000 miles.

Damn it, finding a Miata is too hard.

That being said, I am going to offer this guy $5k, take it or leave it tonight.

I guess he used the Speed Holes in the bumper to remove the inner bumper? Lazy bastard couldn't be bothered to take the cover off? Oh, yeah, now it won't pass a safety inspection either. If the cover were intact, they'd not even look at it twice, but big speed holes in the bumper are pretty much asking the safety inspector to look inside and see the missing safety equipment!

....Disregard if you have no safety inspection in your state.

What's a safety inspection?

Actually, if you option a '97 and a '99 out exactly the same, the '99 will be lighter. The Miata actually lost weight going from '97 to '99 due to a change in bracing and moving to fixed headlights, but gained it back again with some additional bracing in '01. It's not hard to get an SCCA C Stock '99 Miata below 2200 pounds.

As for pricing, I agree that the a/c delete and the non-reversible body mods (along with the giant fart pipe) are going to limit his target audience, but the car is still probably worth closer to $7k than $5k.

I am letting him know that I can't pay him what he could get from someone else right now. I currently have 2 '94s under $4k I am interested in.
