I installed my header a couple days ago and have noticed that I have an egr leak. It was really hard to get everything to go together at first. Its all screwed together and tight but I have a small leak out of the front of the pipe. I havent read of any leaks after doing this so does anyone have any suggestions.

I take it the leak is occuring where you connected the EGR tube to the header. Was the EGR tube difficult to reconnect? If so, you may have cross-threaded the coupling. If you are confident that you did not cross-thread, you could try tightening it a bit more.

Its tight now cross threaded. It has a quiet whistle like an intake to i may just have to live with it.

jb weld... all the way around. But yea you screwed up you could just tap and dye it and do it right.

put some thread lock to seal it, also u sure its the egr, check the header and see if the flange is flat and not warped..

I could feel it coming out between the front of the pipe and the side of the nut. I was checking it out last night and it seems to have enough exhaust build up and has stopped leaking.

If you haven't cross-threaded it yet, back it off and take the header nuts/bolts off the block. Tighten the EGR nut before securing the header to the block so that you have a little play. As long as your threads are good, snug it down.

I cross threaded my header and nut. I sawed off 1/4" of the header threads (you would think the EGR wouldn't reach now, huh?) and beveled the edge to 45 degrees. I then torched and hammered the EGR tube end enough to put a new nut on the end. That was a huge pain and I would just rather spend $50 and get a new EGR tube if I ever cross-thread again.

Everything will burn or crack on this piece. It's just too hot. I've had the most luck with the copper gasket maker (liquid). It's orange. It will deteriorate but I'll usually get 3 weeks out of an application to the outside (to cover up the leak). I have no idea how well it would do in the inside. JB weld cracks and falls off after a week.

I did tighten the EGR before attaching the header to the head, but for now it still isnt leaking so I'm not gonna worry.
