Today is two years since I bought my car! 83636 miles later, it is still running strong! Although I now regret getting the automatic, plenty of fun times were had, and are still to be had with this car.

First post (http://www.protegeclub.com/showthread.php?t=25581) on online forums was the next day. Forums kick ass and I got to meet a lot of good people through here. Having a good community like this definitely adds to the ownership experience.

Going to clean the interior tomorrow: two New England winters were brutal to the carpets.

Wow, I thought 50k miles in two years was a lot. Yeah, it was all about road trips before. Wish I had the time to do that now.

30k in one year is a lot. Just think one more year and you can be bragging about doing 60k in two years.

hehe barely 3 years and at 67k, that is with almost 6-8 months of only driving 12 miles during the work day and perhaps 60 on saturday. So in about 2 years-67k :(

WOOT for protege!!! not a single hicup or problem the whole time.

I think never_ender was gonna break 100k miles but his engine went due to oil starvation so it's been down for a while. not sure if he broke it yet or not.

Damn and I'm worried about my 12k a year average. lol

I broke 45k after the first year. Haven't been driving it much lately, so I'm only at 117k miles when I managed to hydrolock/seize the engine. I was able to break it free, but it threw a rod shortly.

117k miles, damn. how old is the car?

There is no way that mjo79, the guy with 170k can be telling the truth. How do you have a "reliable car" if you haven't changed the oil in 45k. There would have been some major crap wearing down in that engine.

117k miles, damn. how old is the car? It's a 2002, purchased June 2001. It hasn't been driven much since the purchase of a third vehicle. It won't be driven at all for at least a week. It sucks that a flash flood combined with my Injen CAI was what took out my motor.(argh)

covered by warranty?

The warranty was over after about a year. My insurance might cover it, but with the $1000 deductable, I'll just do it myself.

If I didn't buy a Suburban for the road trips, I'd probably be running 180k miles by now. So that 190k claim someone made is not that unreasonable. When I tore apart a 120k motor from my other car (the tranny couldn't handle the additional power - so when putting in a stronger tranny, I decided to rebuild the motor while I was at it), the guys at the machine shop didn't believe I had that many miles on it. The cross-hatching was still visable and there was no lip at the top of the piston stroke.
