Hi, Im new to the protege family and the forums, i have a 02 dx 5spd i am thinking about the twm short shifter and saw their weighed knobs. Is thier a noticeable difference with them or just a way to blow 100 bucks on a knob. will i be sorry if i bought one, is the quality good.

Thanks,

its definetly worth 130 bucks of investing into the TWM shiftknob. Since the knob is weighted (its pretty heavy) you will apply less force to shift between the gears. I have the knob, and trust me ITS SOOOOOOOO much better with this knob than stock, only I wish I would have the black knob, as when I bought my silver knob they didnt offer different colors.

dunno about perrin short shifter, but I can vouch for twm short shifter too, hehe. I have it also. Definetly awesome. Whatever your choice will be, make sure will get kartboy shifter bushings, they're like 25-30 bucks or something like that. They make shifting MUCH better.

you should definitely buy the shifter now because it's on sale for 100 i think. you will need about a 100 mile or less break in period. when you first install it, it is very stiff and takes alot of effort to shift, but it eases up and becomes smooth as if it were stock. definitely a good mod. also, kartboy bushings help out alot. i can't tell you the difference without it because i installed them at the sametime. so 125 is better than 145 that i paid for both the shifter and bushings.

my ss was fine the 1st minute i installed it. Was stiff then and is stiff now, hehe. And yes, the twm shifter is on sale right now. Not sure about the shift knob, but it should be on sale too.
