Well in Vegas, they do the OBDII plug-in smog test. Check engine light isn't on then your fine. I guess you could almost get away with no cats and hope they don't look under the car and as long as the machine thinks the car is ok, you'll be ok. But I'm not expert on SMOG machines nor am I a certified smog tech so this is just my opinion. (bird)

i think some parts of SC have emissions testing, not sure tho. here in NC they're transitioning it county by county. the county i live in (new hanover) does not have it yet, but will next year i think. fortunatly, a county next to us will not have testing ever.....the population is too low. so i can get my car registered there if i have to. so it is possible to get around the testing. especially if you know the people at jiffy lube!! :D
