Exhaust Question?!?!

I am in the process of doing a couple of mods on my wife's '99 pro. Can anyone recommend a inexpensive muffler that is not too loud?

Also, has anyone purchased a muffler from ebay like the speedinex, etc. thanks

dude! you should've posted this earlier, i was JUST in Keesler! Did you see a silver LX rolling around with the MP3 front and 03.5 spoiler?

if you want fairly quiet, but still nice you can't go wrong with the mazdaspeed axelback. it's only loud when you want it to be.

Mazda Sport Exhaust is even a little quieter. Made by Racing Beat for the MP3 but sold at some dealers still...

Find a local muffler shop that's been there for a while, and talk to whoever works there. Those guys that have been doing this kind of work their whole lives can steer you in the right direction. That's what I did. I got a "bullet" style muffler, and it's a little louder than stock, and has a nice low tone to it. It's not the canister type, kind of like the name "bullet" implies. There's two types, the straight through type, which is just like it sounds. Just a tube with little holes in it, that goes straight through the muffler, which of course contains the baffling material. The style I have is a little different, in it has a slight curve to that tube. It sounds very nice. Not offensive or buzzy in the slightest. None of that awful droning noise either. It's essentialy a magnaflow, minus their logo and cost. It only cost $150 installed.
