Hey all, I have a 2001 Mazda Protege LX 2.0L and I had somebody give me some info on what to get, but the problem is that I can't find much stuff. I was told to get a cold air intake and ne throttle body, but the throttle body thing, I don't think is possible for my car, or is it? I was also told to get a shift kit, which I found odd since my car is an automatic, but I believe that is possible. Anybody have any ideas as to a company that has shift kits for autos such as mine? I get told to do this stuff, but they give me no places to check, What the heck? Thanks for your help. Peace.
Why would you change the shifter of an automatic? Its not like you can make it into a short shifter so put that thought out of your mind. Also, the cold air intake will amount to a noise maker. Your not going to get any precievable perfomance gains.
The TB was something I saw kicked around a while ago but it never really seemed to go anywhere as you would need some form of Engine management not to mention a new header, cat or no catted mid pipe and a new cat back exhuast, and a CIA to take advatage of it.
If your trying to get more power out of it, honestly, its turbo or nothing in my opinion. Otherwise you will get some gains from an intake, header, exhuast and midpipe. But even then, your talking 15 whp for over $1000 of parts alone.

as 1'sty said if you are looking for strait power, go FI; you could waste lots of money on many mods that will add small amounts of power, most which are not noticable.
welcome to the board, too!

The shift kit he means is probably the valve body upgrade not a "shifter" as in the stick itself its a shift kit in that it makes you car shift gears faster they have differen't stages like 1 2 3 etc....
they use them alot on altimas i almost bought one when i had mine...
as far as where to get parts try ebay
and protegegarage.com
also you can search and you should be able to find what your looking for :)
peace
