Wsup everybody,

I'm actually not a mazda owner but my girlfriend is. I drive a 96 H22 accord but she drives a 2001 ES protege sedan. To my knowledge, the mp5 bumper doesn't just bolt on because of something called the rebar. I was just wondering is that true and if so, are there any oem lip kits out there? I'm trying to get her a more aggressive look. I'm hoping to drop her car for her b-day too thats comin' up. I'm hoping to get all this done by then...i have like 3 1/2 weeks.

thanks for the help anybody.

This is Dreeza's car. OEM lip kit on a sedan. I think the mp3 front bumper should just bolt right up. I could be wrong. If the rebar is in the way, you can just cut parts of it off. There are a lot of ES sedans on this board that have done the mp3/p5 front bumper conversion. JCell is one of them. You can ask him/her.

i'll have pics of the engine bay up later, but thats where the h22 sits...=P

anyword on the lip kit pricing guys? and also, i was thinking about lowering my g/f's car too not specifically for performance. I hear that eibach prokit or the tein s-techs were the way to go for just lowering the car. Is that true? and is anybody selling em or know where to get em for a good price?

Just to clarify, are the MP5 suspensions the same as just the regular protege ES's? I'm pretty sure it is but i just wanted to verify before i do anything.

JCell

yep, the es, msp, and p5 all pretty much have the same suspention

Accord Kid

thanks jcell. I use to run s-techs on my accord, i've switched over to a full omnipower coilover set now, but i bet its different in proteges...so tein s-techs or eibachs? perks and downsieds for both? thanks guys.

i have the teins on my ES with stock struts for now, at first the drop was uneven (more front than back) but now it looks like it's finally settled, i can barely fit 2 finger in the wheel gap all around

Accord Kid

well it depends on driving but i beleive i have read that stock shocks + lowering springs kill the life span of the shocks....soo good luck. but i hear you about just for looks. ever look into coilovers?

also espelir springs give a good drop i only have two finger gap between tires and wheel well

yea as maniac said, stock struts/shocks will blow out fastER if you use then in conjunction with lowering springs. I lowered my car last summer and my struts are getting a little bit stiffer. So, you would probably get about a year or two out of stock struts/shocks on lowering springs, deppending on the driving habbits.

btw, you got a really nice, clean looking accord. I dont see ANY nice looking CLEAN accords in my area, most of them are riced out, but man, yours looks very nice!!!

^^who cares..let it blow. the guy wants springs w/ stock shocks. Eibach ProKit/Sportlines, Espelir, H&R Sports, Tein S-tech are all good choices. My shocks lasted around 55000km on a daily driven car including winter. I'm lowered on H&R springs.

indeed! who cares....Thats what I said, hehe. Its better that way, because you can ride on stock struts/shocks for a while, while saving up money for aftermarket struts/shocks.

thanks for all the comments on my cars guys. And yeah, This is just gonna get her by for the year, she'll end up or i'll end up getting her new coilover sets after a while anyway. Wow, so all Eibach ProKit/Sportlines, Espelir, H&R Sports, Tein S-tech are all good choices eh? I'll probably go eibach for the name a quality.....Tein S-tech would be just for a better price. =P any more input before i finalize my buy?

thanks for all the input again guys.

i got Tein S-tech. Great springs! They lower the car a TINY bit more than eibach's. Its all upto you. Check out my website if you want some pics

I think the espelirs are the best way to go. I have illuminas with spool springs and if I had the money I'd change my springs over to espelirs. they are listed at a less drop but the pics I've seen show them to have an almost 2" drop. here is a good thread on diff springs: http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58798

I'll find a pic of a protege with espilers. brb

here's a thread with espiler springs: http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73455&highlight=eibach+espelir

also, for the mp3/p5/msp front bumper you'll also need the mp3/p5/msp rebar(reinforcement bar, bar behind the bumper cover)

dam, thats a nice drop too....how much do those springs go for?

is anybody selling a set of used eibach prokits?

I have the Eibachs with stock struts, they have been superb.
As much as I like to support our Protege community vendors, the best price I found was at www.adventon.com
Good customer service, had them within a few days.

looks like i'm gonna be gettin the teins guys, thanks for all ur input. It has been most helpful. I'm going with the teins because it has a little lower drop which gives it a more agressive look. But i would prefer the eibachs just because i know how my g/f is....=P
