View Full Version : Intrest in Metal MSP # Badges
Protege2ner

I am looking for intrest in badges for the MazdaSpeed protege with the production number on them. These will be aluminum with rised lettering. I am looking at about $20 a piece for these. I will get a drawing up later today and hopefully have a picture of the first one by monday. If there is enough intrest I will take the time to do them. The rest is up to you.

I would be interested. but like others have said I would rather have like #xxxx/xxxx for the specific production year.

I can do that with the production numbers. But these will be metal. I have seen the carbon fiber sticker types and they look awesome. But I figured a dash plaque type item found in the Integra R's and Harley trucks might be a little better and more official looking

If you actually make them at around $20 a piece, i'd probably get 2 ( interior and engine bay )

Here is the drawing the white portions will be raised and the black portion will be sunk into the metal. Any critisism needs to be done now so I can change the drawing if need be before it goes into the machine. Size will most likely be 2 inches by 4 inches. They may go as big as 3 X 5

yeah it is the machine drawing will be nice and the metal will have a nice finish. If you see something that needs changed or fixed or doesnt look right let me know so it can be fixed. I have looked at it so long its just a jumble of lines to me.

Design looks good to me, is the finish going to be brushed or polished?
brushed would match the interior better IMO. Regarding the size - 2x4 seems perfect, 3x5 would be too big, for interior anyway.
How thick is the plate going to be? Rounded or sharp corners?
Keep up the good work man
Thank you.

I was gonna do square corners. The plate is going to be aluminum 6061 thin guage an 1/8 inch think give or take. I am debating on doing a brushed back with the letters and border polished. Ill have to see how much work is involved before I make a final decision. Im trying to keep the price 20.00 bucks

James there is a PDF somewhere on the forum that has the numbers listed by VIN. The protege looks completly wrong. I hand drew it from memory and then went out to look at it and relized it looked like crap. I am redoing it now. Keep it coming cause I want this to be a great part not just something that looks like it was slapped together.

Size is 1.5 X 3. When i get the first one done Ill start a list and give payment details.but im still aiming for 20 bucks or so.

Also quick question, How bendable will the metal be? I assume it'll be pretty thin. I ask because I want to put mine below the shifter, which is of course slightly curved.

They will be aluminum thin gauge so they will bend. They will be big enough to notice but small enough to fit many places in the car.

To everyone complaining about getting your production number, there's a MUCH easier way than calling them. Just send an EMAIL to registeredowners@mazdausa.com with your VIN number and they will email you back with your production number.
I've posted this numerous times and asked the mods to make it part of their stickies but they didn't listen.

i know man, they fit everywhere..:D and i am debating on whether to put is in the same place as yours or on the outside right below the mazdaspeed sign on the trunk...... or order another one and put it in the sides, on front fenders.... decisions , decisions....lol
what else yo can do.... hmmm... that spoiler thingy would be the best..;) no rush though, whenever you get around to it. i 'd rather wait for a quality item, you know.

Working on the spoiler thing...Stuff has been a little crazy around here. I'd put it inside somewhere, that way you won't have to worry about it walking off, plus you wont have to polish it as often. Just my thoughts...

Inside or outside the car cause I have two or three on my desk now.

Anywhere. I just want to see one far away and one up close. I think you posted a pic a while ago of the smaller one, but it was a bad pic. I want to see the letter quality on the smaller one. Thanks. In the car would be great, as long as I get an up-close to see detail. Thank you. Once you get a few emblems down, along with some other products (like the one I spoke of in the PM I sent you a long time ago), you need to make some, take close and far away pictures, then start a FS thread in the AMM section. I think you could make some great products.

Nice.
I don't know if I like how they turned out... no offense. I don't know how many people know about these either. The fact that you didn't have 'first mover advantage' did not help your cause either. You might have sucess with a more universal product. Make a front licence plate 'delete' like I mentioned over PM a long time ago. Most of those holes are universal, so you could sell them to just about anybody. Make many designs and post the drawings, and let people pick which one they want. I would paint mine... but some might like a metal one as well. Something like this:
http://www.neuspeed.com/products/product_details.asp?app=34|CV&type=13<ype=ns_import&p_id=1072
I just think you might do well selling these.... but who knows. Since it is not that small.... tooling might not be as bad as the small badges.
