is that something that no antifreeze would do though? im not too familiar with the mechanics of a/c

I don't know anything about the AC either, so I can't help you with that. sorry

lol antifreeze? Ya mean R134a? Take it to a dealer, There are many reasons why an A/c system won't work.

for one antifreeze has nothing to do with ur ac... its called r134 freon.. and yes and no is ur answer.. is the ac copressor cycleing when it is on? or does it not run at all

also does the ac fan turn on when the ac is on?

05-02-2005, 10:59 PM
i havent checked to see if the ac fan is on..and how do u know if the ac compressor is cycling when its on? it was blowing out cold air earlier today..then all of a sudden on my way home from work it wouldnt blow out cold air anymore (scratch)

look at the front of the compressor, is the clutch on it spinning..
b00sted
05-02-2005, 11:01 PM
i dont know where the air compressor is...lol sorry - like i said, i havent the slightest clue about the mechanics of the ac
Shane5425
05-02-2005, 11:02 PM
lol.. follow ur ac lines, ur compressor should be under your power steering pump..
b00sted
05-02-2005, 11:05 PM
ok im gonna go check it now
b00sted
05-02-2005, 11:12 PM
yes if what i was looking at was the ac compressor then yes the thing was spinning. but my fans werent kickin on...
Shane5425
05-02-2005, 11:15 PM
sounds like low freon.. not building up enough high preasure to kick the fans on.. take it to the dealer, thats warrenty work.. they are gonna fill it back up and put some die in it, then they will say bring it back when it doesnt work again and a black light will show where it is leaking..
IF you pull out the glove box, you can see the AC temp cord going down by the passangers feet. That cord has a metal retaining clip that LOVED to fall off on my MP3. When it does, the temp dial becomes useless. Check it out.
Are you guys talking about the raditors fans? Shouldn't those kick on when the car reaches a certain temp totaly inpdependant of the AC?

ok ill check it out!...is there gonna be a bunch of wires and things to confuse me? or is the temp cord distinctive?...also how do i check the freon?

yea thats what i thought
The cord is like one on a bycles brakes. Its a metal cord in an out jacket. The jacket gets tensioned by clips and the cord moves within it. The cord is black and the clip is mounted on white plastic.

no u have 1 fan to cool the engine and one fan for the ac condesor.. the reason for 2 fans and not one fan
But didn't he say neither fan kicked on?

05-02-2005, 11:44 PM
so low freon would prevent the ac fan from turning on? where do i look to check the freon?
yes...neither fan kicked on

Have you checked belts? Maybe one of the pulleys fell off...

u cant check freon.. special guages have to be used.. take it to mazda, this should be warrenty work..
one fan should kick on after rideing a bit to cool the enigne
the other fan is controlled by switches on the ac system..

if your 21 i dont see why not, i am screwed when i bring my car to do extended warrenty work.. only 19.. but extended warrenty is going out next year so its up to me to fix my own car.. damn.. that means more work... at least i can mod my engine without worring about the warrenty bieng voided..

i would check the ac fuse/relay before i go to the dealership.
hmm my a/c light turn on and off and i can feel it in the power. what could be the problem? bad switch?

wheres that?
Shane5425
05-03-2005, 10:41 PM
in the fuse box under the hood.. turn ur ac on and tap on the ac relay if it kicks on u have found the culprit

well..i didnt see anything
...whats ur diagnosis blk?

If the compressor is turning on then the relay isn't clicking. The pcm controls the turning on of the relay after reading inputs of several sensors. Of which only one was mentioned. Again, I highly suggest just bringing it to a dealer and getting properly diagnoised.

hmm... i think that was my 2n suggestion...
i can tell you know they will suck the freon out(whats left) and recharge it with dye .. if it doesnt work after the recharge.. then its gonna be electrical... fun fun... i hate doing electrical work on cars.. pain in da ass..
