Haven't heard of anyone having this problem. My lower ic pipe is cracking and I've decided to upgrade to hardpipes. So far my dealership has documented a leaky turbo and a stiffer shifter. Regarding the turbo, they wanted to wait until more symptoms show up before replacing it. They think the oil build up is just normal condensation. As for the shifter, they have already replaced the whole shifter assembly, but the problem is still there. The tech already made a note with the mazda headquaters regarding my problem. Of course, they took the "wait and see" option.

I guess I can see their point. My car only has 12k and I still have warranty. However if I were to install (turbohoses), I'm not sure if they would still honor their promise.

...I should probably talk to the service manager...

honor their promise on the turbo? i'm sure they wouldn't want to, but the fact that the problem has already been documented with the stock pipes and not the hardpipes, if they try to fuck with you, tell them to look at their own records.

if you're pretty cool with the tech's, i'd just ask em and see what they say.

i know i haven't been denied any type of warranty work with my hardpipes, but i haven't had any significant engine related issues either.

my local dealership said that hardpipes are fine as long as they resemble the stock pipes. on that note, the first set i made went on a car that got traded in and resold with "full warranty". but remember, every dealer ship is different.

If it means getting a new turbo, I would just wait. Each dealer is different when it comes to mods and warranty work. Mine hates all mods, which is why I never go there!

Just called my service department and was told by the service advisor that any parts that is aftermarket is not reccommended...And he strongly suggest to keep the pipes stock for warranty. I guess I have to wait a bit longer.

how much longer do you have on your warranty?

if it wasn't for the turbo trouble you're having, i'd say go for it and get the pipes, but i bet they'd screw ya the moment you had more turbo troubles with the hardpipes on.

Bought the car on nov 2003 and I have driven about 13k...so my warranty will end on Nov 2007 or 37k more miles....that's a long time.

I'll try to get them to replace my transmission and turbo earlier. Plus I have rotations starting in July, so I don't have much time.
