How much is the mpi on a turboed protege? How do i order it. Does it come already preprogrammed for the dual map readings? What is the safe and max boost to run on stock internals but with the mpi?

$675.Either call Mental Addiction Motorsports or Modern Peformance. No, it does not come premapped. However we have a baseline map that we can provide, but it will still need to be tuned.

I can email you a map. Then you'll need to fine tune it.The MPI is very user friendly. If you know how to add and subtract then you already know the basics

ok i looked on your website and it said that it was 750 but then MPnick's signature says its 585 or 685. i have the money so just let me know which one. I'm not sure but i was told that with the mpi 12 pounds is safe with stock internals and 15 is max. Is that true.

thats not true. you will need extra injectors over 9psi (which is more money) and 15 psi is way to high for stock rods. id stay at 10psi max anything more and your gambling.

the mpi is an awesome unit, i have it, if u have any questions i can help you a bit cause nick and beau can get pretty busy

nick sells a kit. u can get 1 injector or 2 depending on your needs. and it comes with a mini fuel rail thing that u weld into your IC to TB pipe.

FYI there are probably 10 threads out there which would have more than answered your questions. You can find a lot about this unit through searches. The unit you need is $700, just PM MPNick or someone at MAM to discuss payment. Though they will probably recommend a road tune, I am guessing you could also send them a dyno with A/F and they can get you a 'closer' map, but don't quote me on that.... talk to them about it. The best tune is with the car and laptop in front of you.

if you have a MPI you do not need a boost controller right?

terbow

technically no unless you want to raise the boost, then u need one.

The MPI is a great unit and there are several people running it now so there are a lot of people that can help you with maps. Focus is the man when it comes to mapping the normal MPI setup, I highly reccomend talking to him if you get one.

Yes it controls timing, make sure the guy has no other issues with the car, and make sure he wired the unit properly

ok, so as for having nothing wrong with the car? my car at idle or stumbles a little bit. the rpm does not go down it sounds liek it skips about every 15-20 sec. i think im sersouly thinking about this. i need something and i dont have a lot of$$.

well at idle and non boost situations the mpi isnt really doin to much (although you can adjust fuel and timing then), so off boost its basically the stock ecu, what they are saying is if u have problems like in boost or if it runs like crap (not from tuning, but fomr mechanical or sensor problems) the mpi wont fix it. If u have an existing problem then it will still be there and make it REALLY hard to tune. if ur car is in good running condition then ur all good

i thought the mpi tuner had a programmed boost controller in it? if someone can verify if that is wrong or not

terbow

nope it doesnt. It might be able to control an electric boost controller, but theres not a soleniod or controller built in.
