I am not rolling around in dough, so I need to get the best deal for an exhaust. From reading around and stuff, it seems to me that my best bet is to get the Greddy SP2 for the money, sound, and performance. What are your general thoughts on this cat back exhaust????????

I have the older version installed on my MSP. I love mine. Money well spent. I would never spend $1300 on an exhaust system, but that seems to be the current rage of other MSP owners.
The car pulled harder when I put it on. Never dynoed it, but I spend alot of time in my car and could really feel a difference. I put it on before I installed my downpipe.
If you want an extremely loud system, the SP2 is not for you. Look for the exhaust thread by Striker, and you will find some audio clips of different exhaust.
The best deal however would be to just get some custom exhaust piping and the muffler of your choice. I just wanted to bolt something on, and went with the Greddy. Greddy makes great products in my opinion.

For the price you pay for the SP2, you can pretty much get a turbo back exhaust from cork sport, or at least Mid pipe back.

IIRC the SP2 showed no gains or something like 2-3hp over the stock exhaust. Like what was just mentioned, for the price of the Greddy you could get a custom Spipe back exhaust at 2.5 or 3in that would provide alot more on the performance end.

If your thinking greddy, stop, reevaluate and get a JIC. sounds much better, its quality, and nobody has it (I can think of 3 people on this board with it, and i'm one of them).
I bought an SP2, sold it and bought a JIC. Go JIC or go home. lol. sorry, i got carried away.

The Greddy sounds good, definite performance gain over stock. .
Again, I ask to see this supposed dymno that showed no gains.
Maybe with the stock cats, no way in hell with an aftermarket midpipe/downpipe.

No kidding! Of all the shit put forth on this forum at times, the myth about the SP2 just boggles my mind and "butt dyno"! I want to see the mythical no power gain dynos as well.

the catback by itself is not gonna free up too much hp. after replacing the rest of the exhaust, that's when you'll actually feel more power.
and go custom and get a 5zigen....best sounding one around, and i'm not just saying that ;)

No, get a jpipe. The most restrictive part of the exhaust system is the cats.

Like I said previously, I put my SP2 on before my downpipe. I drove the car for a week that way. I was not that impressed with the affect of adding the downpipe. But that said, I would not be running more boost without it.
BigCC63, you have to make the call. All I am saying is don't believe the crap about the SP2 not sounding good or not adding some power. The canister is very nice looking and the finish of the whole system is second to none. Have you seen any broken SP2 threads on here? Unless you are changing the s-pipe as well, no exhaust system is going to give you 20+hp gains. But just about any aftermarket exhaust will flow better than what the car came with.

I have a 3" dp, no cats and the SP2. Great sound, good gains and will probably never get anything else. One because I'm tapped out for money at present and two, because I dont want to deal with those damn bolts again. lol

I think now I am considering an Apex catback or a Magnaflow..........

one of the nice things about the SP2 is that the canister isnt hugely, ricely, big. It looks close to stock. All other systems tend to have the rice canister look... but thats jmo.
