I was wondering why there are no aftermarket intake manifolds on the market for the MSP (or any protege that I've seen). Is it because there is not enought gains from one? Difficult manfacturing. What are the pros and cons of a aftermarket manifold anyways and how can they affect performance?

I believe MAM has a tubular intake mani...pretty high though, over $1000 I think.

Do you guys think we need one? I always thought the stock one worked very well for what it does.

The stock one is ugly, and it wasn't intended on being on a boosted application (although we barely qualify as a boosted car). I just think that's there probably is a lot of room for improvement there.

Just remember if you get rid of the stock intake and get a short runner big plenum intake manifold your low-end and driveability goes out the window.

Would it really be that bad because our turbos do spool pretty quickly. I just remember when I had my old car there was at least 8 different intake manifolds..... but there's none for the msp

just take the one you got,and port it.
if you don't like the way it looks, then take the time,or spend the money and have it smoothed and polished,or maybe powdercoated.

My question is: Why would you want to spend money on a part you don't need? 90% of this forum couldn't even use a short runner manifold to its potential.

BTW- Wagner Motorsports apparently sells sheet metal IM for the Protege.
