How much BOOST can a 2003.5 MSP hold on stock everything. Also which would be better a MBC or an EBC??

kiss your engine goodbye.....when your first question "how much boost can it hold?" you're going to have problems. You shoulda probably bought an evo or srt4.

ok serisloy, the msp can handle 8-9 psi safely, at 10-12, the rods will start to bend

I'd recommend an exhaust first at the very least. With the recent;y released s-pipes, you can get a corcksport turboiback for a something like 700 now

Mazda- "Didn't you pick the car up last night?"

With stock everything, I will say the most 9psi.
You should get a EBC, because you can adjust it while you are driving.

With my mods, I only went over 10psi a few times(dont want to blow my engine) I drive daily at 7.5psi, 10psi at track or drag strip.

I have stock MSP, besides AEM CAI, and Tein lowering springs... just installed boost, air fuel and oil pressure gauges.... my question is... why does my boost gauge peak at 12 psi when i get on it... any answers... im guessing its where i put the sensor... tell me where the sensor should have been put... i know little about cars... and my brother owns a 1.8t jetta and he says we just put it where his was supposed to go... please get back to me soon... its a Autometer ultralite boost gauge for those thinking is something cheap and shitty i just bought off the shelf

I have no boost controller, it just reads 12psi i dont know why i was just like WTF and it does it everytime shoots right up im gonna try to get it checked out i just dont know where. I HAVE NO CLUE HOW ITS 12psi the only thing i have done to that engine is a AEM CAI thats it i havent touched anything else in that engine....

At 12 psi your car should feel quite different, since stock is avg 5 to 7ish. Did you notice anything?

After i installed my CAI i did notice a boost difference... i have heard that it could be the CAI either giving it more boost or making the gauge think it has more boost... im not quite sure what it is... i have been trying to figure it out for weeks... but it does feel a little different but i only have a 1.8t jetta to compare it too that is peaking at 22psi and running around 18psi... and my car has nothing compared to that... but i dont know what 12psi is supposed to feel like... i mean the car runs fine... no probelms at all... i use synthetic oil, its upkept perfect... and run 93 octane only never put in anything less so i really dont know what could be doing it... i hope my engine does blow but i think it would have by now i have noticed it for about a month... and no problems... but i dont think the gauge can be off... i have never heard of such a problem, but then again i dont know much about cars, i am learning

Your gauge could be wrong or did you somehow bump the wastgate to cause it to stick? I really don't know, just picking at straws to help you.

Maybe a faulty wastegate signal hose?

No i dont think i bumped it or anything like that... its not sticking... im gonna do some inspecting once i get home and give it a good look over then possibly take it to a shop and see if anyone has a clue to why im reading it... ill take a pic so you guys can see what it shows

So it would be okay to get a ebc and run 8.5 or 9 psi

Why dont you try the Gauge from the jetta and see if its the gauge. Also i have been running 10lbs for a year and no problems

I would say it is relatively safe, however, before upping the boost i would get an exaust and better IC... it would feel much faster and be safer.
EBC is 12564846548 times better then MBC, partially cause you are not going to have boost spikes, and of couse the convinience of adjusting from the driver's seat is simply great.

But ultimately there is no 100% safe way to boost above stock.

Yeah thats what i figured, i know im gonna do turbo back exhaust and either a side mount or front i havent decided which way im gonna go yet... ebc would be nice to have but im gonna be out of work for this month cause of fuckin surgery but once i get back on my feet hopefully i will start to get some work done to this car... lol now i have a side project with my brother and about 6 of my friends we are building a 93 integra into a racer... lol already striped and primered in two days lol!!

Well, I have 70k miles now almost all of it at 12PSI daily driven 100+ miles.
MBC and all else stock.
Of course you may hit 10PSI and explode! The difference bewtween 5 and 12PSI is quite apparent. It's like the difference between a punch in the gut and a thump.
