Hey guys just wanted to introduce myself. The name is John, 21, from Alberta, Canada.
I bought a '04 2.3L Auto 5door last May, so far it's working out really good. Though it lacks power, I say the handling is quite impressive and it serves its purpose.
To be honest I don't know nothing about cars so I thought I joined and ask you older and wiser guys haha..
So far it's still stock, just tinted the windows. I'm thinking of getting an intake and exhaust for it.
Thanks.

Welcome to the forums. The automatic tranny does rob the engine of a lot of power due to it's gear ratios

I have a '05 3...2.3 4dr...auto.......Mine has plenty of power. Do they do something different in Canada that would rob a little power?

different strokes for different folks. basically some people would say the mazda is really fast and needs no improvement. others (like myself) realize the mazda is nice but it needs some "speed enhancers."

I remember when I had my Mazda 3s automatic, it felt very quick off the line but when for example you are at about 20 km/h and floor the gas pedal, it would attempt to get the car going in 2 nd gear and maybe 1 or 2 seconds later would downshift to 1st and go. I didnt appreciate that lag. I find that the tranny is not aggressive enough when you floor the gas pedal, it will try the gear it is in first than a lower one than sometimes a lower one instead of just imediately downshifting 2 gears anf going. And when you used the manumatic function and you selected a new gear, you would have to sometimes shift again because it would not switch gears and the computer would always think for 2 seconds before shifting. Bottom line, shifting for yourself is much more practical and efficient unless you do a lot of city driving.
