Maybe we can start a thread here just solely for cooling options for the intake. And by this I mean options for cooling down hot pipes.. Let's face it.. there are a lot of drag racers on here and I too am guilty of drag racing from time to time with the msp... The one thing that I know sucks is heat soak from staging *or from the red light whichever the case may be*. How many systems are there for cooling the intake piping down?

I know of..
Ntercooler
Cry02
*water spray systems*

Anybody tried anything different?

You could wire the fans to a toggle switch so you would be able to allow them both to run while staging. I think someone here has done that before, but i dunno who?

Thermal wrap is a good way to cool down your intake pipes.

I'm currently developing my own CO2 set up...

yah i've been pondering a coil around all of the intake piping post intercooler - throttle body using co2... hmmmmmmmmmmm keep it goin everyone!!!

Good point, do anything you can to cool down the rest of the engine bay, so they don't absorb heat. You could wrap your exhaust manifold(although this could result in manifold death), or get it jethot coated. It's one of the reasons I'm getting my downpipe coated before putting it on. I want to do something with the manifold, maybe the MAM one some day, but I don't have the cash for it now.

throttle body coolant bypass, intake manifold thermal spacers...

If you want to get crazy about it I would wrap every bit of intake piping.

You can try removing your front and rear weather stripping on the hood for better under-hood temps too.

can u explain the throttle body coolant bypass a little bit more peepsalot?? I'm not sure what you mean by that...

There is a coolant line that goes to through the throttle body. Since coolant is about 200 degrees, the theory is you are unecessarily heating the throttle body and any air that passes through it. What you do is take the input hose and output hose and detache them from the TB and put the two ends together. Do a search, there is lots of info about it.

I think a couple of places carry these but I can't find my links. I only found this one but you can do a search on google.

i'm actually pondering some things myself. i'm wondering if it would be okay to jet coat all of my hardpipes. i don't have them yet but i'm wanting to buy some. i knwo the ups and downs of both aluminum and steel and still can't really decide. i'm wondering if i could jet coat some steel pipes. that way they would look like steel but would be able to keep heat out. however it might make the hot pipe hotter. i guess it might be good to do it to the cold pipe. might keep it cooler in there but i really have no idea. i've never worked with the stuff before

CryO2 has proven to cool your intake charge. You can also cool the fuel, but I don't know how much power you will see from that. Yea a CO2 tank, some braided hose, and a 12v solenoind that can handle low temps would make for some fun. But I think you could drain a tank pretty quick because you have to purge that CO2...

The thing I wonder about the cry02 type thing is how much restriction it adds when it is not active.
